Hey- I hope your day is off to a great start!

A few days ago I sent out information about my Hacking Hashimoto's program. I created this program based on working with hundreds of people with Hashimoto’s and have now piloted it with over two hundred people with really great outcomes!

I was really excited to see the lightbulbs, breakthroughs and “aha” moments from my group of Hashimoto’s Hackers! And most of the participants were already super knowledgeable. Some of them have had Hashimoto’s for decades, many were working with functional medicine practitioners, and some of them were even practitioners themselves before they started the course!

Many of your are probably wondering if the course is a good fit for you. Here are some answers to the questions many of you have asked...

Let's start with the biggest three questions...

  • What Types of Results Can I Expect from the Course
  • Why Do the Course if I'm already Working with a Doctor?
  • Books vs. Courses vs. Working with a Practitioner vs. Doing it on Your Own

People who implemented the recommendations have seen a major reduction in symptoms and antibodies, while people who took the course said that they had a much better understanding of their condition and a plan of action. One woman told me that she saw more improvements in the three months of taking the course than she had in three years of working with her integrative doctor!

This is not to say the doctor is to blame, rather that empowered patients are more likely to have better outcomes! I came up with the idea for this course as a result of my years in public health. Multiple studies were done on a self-management program for people with diabetes, and every study found that the patients who took the self management program and worked with their practitioners had significantly better health outcomes compared to people who just worked with their practitioners! Furthermore, the course reduced the patients' dependency on practitioners!

This is what I want to give you- empowerment, as well as a way to manage your own condition. I know that functional medicine practitioners who specialize in Hashimoto’s are few and far between (not to mention expensive), and many have long waiting lists, so it's not reasonable for someone to have 10-12 sessions with a functional medicine practitioner. This is where my Hashimoto’s Self Management Program comes in!

Taking my Hashimoto’s Self Management Program will help you figure out how to get yourself better, and how to best utilize your doctor (even if he/she is not trained in integrative or functional medicine). You’ll also have access to labs and assessments that are only available to functional medicine providers so that you can take charge of your own health!

I myself have taken quite a few training courses after pharmacy school for personal and professional reasons, and have always found them to be a worthy investment.

When I first was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, I took every thyroid and functional medicine course for healthcare professionals that I could find and that would allow me in! The knowledge I gained from these courses, combined with my own research as well as working with my doctor helped me recover my health!

In addition to numerous “professional courses’ to advance my career, I’ve also taken courses on fitness, dancing and sewing! So far, one of the most helpful courses I’ve taken was a 16 hour course on how to write and publish a book, and this course helped me write and publish a book that has helped thousands of people with their health!

I think of courses and books as a shortcut to getting the life-experience of another person instead of having to stumble and make mistakes myself. And while I love reading books, I have found that I always learn so much more from courses and from being able to ask the instructor questions.

If you sign up for the Hacking Hashimoto’s Course by January 28th, you too will have an opportunity to ask me questions about your health, and you’ll also be able to get in for a discounted price (using the HH2016 code). The price of this course is a fraction of the cost it would take for just one consult with a functional medicine practitioner.

Now, let's get to the rest of the questions that people have asked about the program, in case you may have the same questions :-)

• Can I do the program if I am vegan/ vegetarian/ pescatarian?

The program utilizes food assessments, diet, nutritional supplements as well as looking at root causes well beyond food.  The course has one module on diet, where I go over the most helpful Hashimoto’s diets. I do ask participants to be open to changing their diets, to find the most suitable diet for them- often times, it’s not the diet we’re eating! However, if you’re not willing or not able to change your diet, there are also 11 modules with recommendations beyond diet that you’re likely to benefit from. Some of the modules that are especially likely to help independent of diet include:  addressing your adrenals, addressing dental triggers, gut infections, toxins and nutrient depletions.

• Can I do the program when I live in Europe?

Yes! We’ve had participants from all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Australia benefit from the course.

• I live in Europe, will I be able to get the tests/supplements needed for the program?

Yes, the majority of the tests and supplements are available to be shipped to Europe.  Please consider your country’s importation taxes as well as the currency exchange rate. People in the US will also get a discount on supplements.

• Do you provide meal planning and shopping lists?

Yes- the course comes with a recipe portal that houses 600+ recipes, meal plans and shopping lists for the diets that I’ve found to be most helpful in Hashimoto’s!

• Can I do the modules at a slower pace?

Yes- you will have lifetime access to the modules and can take them at a slower pace and retake them as needed.

  • Can your course can help me, I have Hypothyroidism?

Yes. The course is tailored to Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, subclinical hypothyroidism, and will be helpful for other autoimmune conditions as well, such as celiac disease that hasn’t responded to a gluten-free diet.

• Do you provide details on supplement and medication dosage in the program?

Yes! I have a module on medications that goes over various thyroid medications, dosing, conversion from different medications and much more. I also have multiple assessments for nutrient depletions that will give you an idea as to which nutrients may be deficient as well as my recommended brands and dosing . You also get a 10% discount on supplements through the course (US only).

• When does the program start? Can I begin when I want?

The course is open for enrollment right now. You will get access to the first module as soon as you sign up, and then one new module will be sent to you each week. You will have lifetime access to the modules. Please enroll my Jan 28th to qualify for the bonus Q&A sessions, which will take place in March, April and May and to qualify for the discount. You’ll have the opportunity to submit your questions before hand, and they will be answered even if you can’t join live. The Q&A sessions will also be recorded and transcribed so you can listen at a later time. If you do attend live, you’ll have the opportunity of asking the questions live.

  • Will you offer the course at a later time?

While I will offer the course again, I may not be able to provide Q&A and the price may be higher. If you choose to enroll in the course now, you’ll have lifetime access to the course so you can take it when it’s convenient for you. We also have a payment plan.

• My TSH is high, but all other levels are normal. Will the program help me?

Yes. There are 5 stages to thyroid disease. A person with only thyroid antibodies and normal TSH is considered in Stage 2 of thyroid disease,  a person who has an elevated TSH with normal T4/T3 with or without thyroid antibodies, is in Stage 3 of thyroid disease, a person with elevated TSH, lowered T3/T4 +/- thyroid antibodies is in Stage 4 of thyroid disease, regardless if she/he has thyroid antibodies or not. Stage 5, is when the person progresses to other types of autoimmune disease. The course is focused on reversing and slowing/stopping progression of the condition in all stages, and is appropriate for all levels of thyroid disease.

  • If my doctor won't order the tests in the program, can I order my own tests?

Yes!  The first module will go over all of the root cause testing that I recommend. I will go over the standard tests that your doctor should be able to order for you that will likely be covered on your insurance. I will also go over advanced functional medicine testing that may not be covered on insurance. Your Root Cause Assessment results will help you prioritize as to which of the functional medicine tests you’ll need to get. I have set up a lab testing portal where you can order all of the recommended tests for a big discount.
  • How do I sign up for the course and take advantage of the discount & Bonus Q&A sessions?
You can get the $200 discount and bonus Q&A sessions by signing up at www.hackinghashimotos.com by January 28th, using the code "HH2016" (without the quotations) in the promo code box.

Hope to see you in Q&A :-)
