National Campus Webinar:

Addressing Policy Through a Wellbeing Lens

Have you been thinking about and working on the call to action to embed mental health and wellbeing in all campus policies?

You're invited to join us Thursday, February 11th at 10:00-11:30am PST for the National Campus Webinar discussion on "Addressing Policy Through a Wellbeing Lens."

Join other practitioners, policy makers, students, faculty and staff from across Canada for a dialogue about what it means to develop and review post-secondary policies from a wellbeing lens. We will explore current practices and resources relating to this topic, as well as connect with each other to share ideas, wisdom and opportunities to collaborate in this area further.

Jonny Morris, Senior Director of Policy, Research and Planning at the Canadian Mental Health Association British Columbia Division will be on hand to moderate the discussion.

Join the online community group (a National Incubator!) to participate in additional discussions, share resources and connect with other stakeholders who are interested in improving policies that impact student mental health and substance use.

Date: Thursday, February 11, 2016

Time: 10am - 11:30am (PST)

*As promoted in alerts by the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services (CACUSS)*

Note - you do not need to be a CACUSS member to register and participate in this webinar.

"It is widely accepted that the broader organizational context has an impact on the wellness of those within it. Institutional structure and policies contribute to its culture by reinforcing certain values, beliefs and behaviours; and discouraging others. How a post-secondary institution is structured and its strategic goals, policies and practices therefore impact student mental health, which in turn, impacts student learning. Addressing this area requires assessment of the degree to which these organizational elements support student mental health and engage the whole student in the learning process." (National Guide to a Systemic Approach)

SUMMIT 2016: March 11th & 12th, 2016

Extended Deadline: Pop-up Market for Innovations

Submit a "Promising Practice" to Share

View the Application Form >>>
Tell us about a promising practice, tool, initiative, resource, policy, etc that you would like Framework for post-secondary mental health (aka continuum) to share at Summit 2016 because you think others will be interested in learning more about it. The purpose of the Pop-up Market for Innovations is to build awareness about your promising practices through a 5-10 minute "pitch" to small audiences circulating around the Market. Your task will be to quickly and meaningfully engage folks in the marketplace to look at and think a bit about your promising practice and how it might fit into their campus context.

We are looking for examples from across the continuum

Fields to be completed in the proposal application:
  • Name of the promising practice (tool, initiative, resource, policy, etc)
  • Description
  • Resource link (if applicable)
  • Why might others be interested in learning about this?
  • Please describe why you consider this to be a promising practice (e.g. it is based on evidence/theory, results have been promising based on either anecdotal or formal evaluation, etc.)
Submissions must be received by February 19th, 2016.
