2016 Legislation

The 2016 Hawai`i Legislature will consider at least two important geothermal issues:  (1) restoring geothermal regulatory laws repealed in 2012, and (2) considering state preemption of county authority in geothermal matters.

You are invited to join our 2016 Legislation email list to receive notices about submitting written testimony in support of favorable legislation and opposing adverse bills in committee hearings.

This invitation message is being sent to members of several geothermal related mailing lists seeking people wishing to be informed about hearings in the Hawai`i Legislature.

Please click here to join the 2016 Legislation email list.  You can also tell us you wish to join by replying to this email message.

Here are links to three 2016 geothermal bills:

(1) SB2267 a permitting bill that preserves the high water mark of past regulatory efforts  [good]

(2) HB1732 a permitting bill that lacks essential content  [needs amendment]

(3) SB2535 a preemption bill seeking to retroactively preempt county ordinances  [bad]

We will be tracking these bills and sending alerts to the 2016 Legislation email list when testimony is needed.

Thank you for considering this request to participate through this list in the 2016 Legislature.  We need your help if you have the time.

Mahalo,
Bob
