Tennessee DECA SCDC Registration Is Still Open!
Conference registration will be available online using the same registration system as district conferences. Students whose membership dues have not been paid will not be able to be registered for the conference. On-site registration and/or registration changes will not be allowed. Changes will not be allowed after Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 5 p.m.
It is the Tennessee DECA policy that all schools adhere to a 1:10 ratio of adults to students. Please make arrangements to have adequate supervision of your chapter members at the state conference.
Registration Availability
Regular registration window: Feb. 1-10, 2016
Registration adjustment window: Feb. 11-12, 2016 (closes at 5 p.m.)
Registration Fees
Regular Registration: $95.00 per attendee
Adjustment Window Registration: $105.00 per attendee
Banquet Guest Fees
Regular Registration: $35.00
Adjustment Window Registration: $40.00
**Banquet tickets are included in each conference registration fee.

Please note special needs (physical and dietary) for attendees in the registration system.
Conference Payment Information
All payments are due in full in the Tennessee DECA office by Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. Checks should be made payable to Tennessee DECA. Chapters wishing to pay registration fees using a credit card will be able to do so in person at the on-site check-in desk at the conference.
Once registration is closed, changes will not be allowed. There will be no on-site changes allowed.
No Cash Policy: Checks, credit cards, and debit cards will be the only accepted forms of payment for the state conference.

Tennessee DECA State Secretary Officer Application Extension
There were no "Intent to Run" forms submitted for the position of Tennessee DECA Secretary received by Dec. 31, 2015. Therefore, the application period has reopened for this position only. Emerging leaders who are interested in running for this position should submit a completed application on or before Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 5 p.m. to Steven.Mitchell@tn.gov. For state officer application documents, please review the "Officer Information" page at www.decatn.org.

Non-Competitive Student Opportunities at SCDC
Voting Delegates
- Each chapter is encouraged to bring two (2) voting delegates.Voting delegates are non-competing members.
#IamTNDECA Leadership Academy
- This leadership development academy is for non-competing students only. In the #IamTNDECA leadership academy, students will learn strategies to develop their local chapter and engage their community while networking with Tennessee DECA leaders of today and tomorrow. Each chapter is allotted two (2) spots for this academy. The academy's content will be directed to freshmen, sophomore, and junior members.

Awards
- At the Mini Awards Banquet, we will recognize supporters of Tennessee DECA and the top scorers for each event's test and role play. The top five scorers will be called to the stage and the top three will receive a medallion.
- Those who qualify to compete at ICDC will be announced at the Saturday morning Grand Awards Session. The top eight individuals or teams will be called to the stage and the top four in each event will receive a trophy and advance to ICDC.
- If your students are unable to attend one or both awards sessions, please make arrangements with another chapter to collect your students' awards.
- The Grand Awards Session is scheduled to conclude by 10:30 a.m. There will be a short advisor meeting following the Grand Awards Session.
Advisor Professional Development
- Advisors will have an opportunity to attend up to two advisor professional development sessions at the Tennessee DECA Career Development Conference this year. Session descriptions, locations, and other details will be sent with advisor work assignments later this month.

Gaylord Opryland Hotel Reservations
You will be able to make your hotel reservations through the conference registration system again this year. In the system, you will be able to share rooms between chapters. Both chapters must confirm the shared room. Reservations will be accepted through Feb. 12, 2016 at 5 p.m.
Room Rates
The room rate is $170.00 per night plus applicable taxes. Chapters are encouraged to provide a tax exempt form to Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center to avoid paying sales tax. A final invoice will be available during registration.
Parking
Nightly rate of $10.00 per vehicle.
The bus drop-off location will be at Delta Portico.

Required CTSO Release Form
All 2015-16 district and state conference participants must have a signed CTSO Release Form on file before participation can be granted. Please click here to download a copy of the form. All forms can be turned in at the registration table at the state conference if a participant did not attend a district conference. Attendees without a signed form on file will be sent home from the conference and will be unable to participate.

Tennessee DECA Membership Update
Great news! We have officially met our state goal of exceeding 6,000 members in Tennessee DECA! Next year, our state will be able to fill more competitive event spots at ICDC! Chapter Advisor Scholarships & DECA AMPED
DECA recognizes individuals for their commitment to the organization and student development through advisor scholarships and the Professional Division Awards program. DECA’s corporate partners offer professional development scholarships to advisors for use at DECA AMPED or other professional development conferences providing continuing education credit (CEU) in their field.

Call for Presenters - 2016 Institute for CTE Educators
We are looking for presenters to lead sessions during this summer’s Institute for CTE Educators. The theme for this year's institute is College & Career Roadmap: Developing the Ready Student. Teachers and directors will experience a week full of professional growth, instructional resources, and networking opportunities. The 2016 Institute will be held July 11-15 at the Music City Center in Nashville. Complete this application to submit a proposal.
Focus Areas and Session Content - Any connections to CTSOs in these focus areas are encouraged!
- Providing capstone experiences (internships, apprenticeships, clinicals, work-based learning, etc.) for students
- Preparing students to earn industry certifications that are aligned with postsecondary and lead to high quality employment opportunities
- Building regional/local relationships with employers and utilizing regional business partners in the classroom
- Integrating 21st century skills into CTE curriculum
- Connecting course content to postsecondary (two-year, four-year, or technical college) and career opportunities, including specific jobs, certifications, and degree programs
- Providing career exploration (job shadow, guest speaker, tour, etc.) activities for students
- Teaching problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Have another idea for an engaging session? We want to hear about it! Select "Other" as your focus area on the application.
* New this year: If your proposal is accepted, the lead presenter or a co-presenter will be required to attend a “presentation preview” phone call with a team member at the department. During this call, come prepared to preview the plan for your session, the session activities, and the session logistics. If a presentation includes multiple presenters, at least one presenter must be available for the preview call. All calls will occur during the month of April or May and will last approximately 30-45 minutes.
