February 2016

Welcome!

You are reading EPU's monthly newsletter.

Welcome back everyone! After a nice and long break from classes (and in some cases from exams) it is once again time to focus on American history, the theories of its culture, and to perfect your writing and/or presentation skills. Yes, the second semester has officially begun. Not only is it time to fire up your learning engines, but also to get ready for all the amazing things that EPU will organize in 2016! You'll find out more about our plans in this newsletter and at the General Members Assembly next Monday.

We wish you lots of reading pleasure.

The 27th Board
Dear Members, the time has come for the second General Members Assembly of this academic year. It's going to be an important one. Not only will you receive updates from the committees and the Board, but it will also be your chance to vote on two new EPU policy proposals. More information about that will follow as soon as possible.
After the GMA we will go to O'Malley's for drinks and to welcome back all EPU students who spent a semester abroad.
We hope to see you there!
There are still a few last-minute spots available on the Budapest Trip! Sign up now!

A message from...

the Almanac Committee

Dear citizens of EPU,

This is a very special and secret message to you from the secret society of the superheroes (also known as the Almanac-Committee).
Forget the Avengers, forget Superman, forget Batman. Please, try to forget ANT-man. Here is the Almanac-Committee! We fight against evil such as Donald Trump, hangovers, too much Judith Butler and… the lack of almanac. Since September we accepted the challenge of making the most awesome almanac. We are not only very handsome, with our special powers we try our best to make this almanac the one you won’t forget. With Mister Mind-Meint and his ability to write notes and stalk you with his incredible writing skills, we are able to stay organized. Power-Piter is the money-man. He makes sure that our secret group won’t get broke. The Marius-Master is one of the most valuable members, since he can make our Almanac not only awesome, but beautiful as well. Being the only foreign member, he has sometimes secret missions outside the country. The Mart-Man has the special ability to promote this almanac the best he can. Ever wondered who posted the awesome posts on Facebook? That was Mart-Man. However, this pack of super men has a leader as well, who makes sure that everyone is present at the secret meetings in the Harmony Building (not so secret anymore). Super Saskia might be bad with Paint, however, her leadership skills are inevitable for a pack like this. Furthermore, her love for glitters makes the pack not only strong, also fabulous.
Now you know who are saving the almanac and, more important, the whole existence of EPU. However, we need more help in order to save the almanac, EPU, and the whole world. You can be that help! By signing up for the most amazing almanac, you not only get an amazing Almanac, however, also the love from the complete pack. Who does not want that? Do not wait any longer and spend only five seconds of your valuable time to submit to http://svepu.nl/almanac-submission  Furthermore, if you think you have super powers as well and want to help to write the almanac of your dreams, please contact us by sending an email to almanac@svepu.nl.
Now, we take the Almanac-mobile and drive to our secret cave in order to continue our mission. We will meet again.
NANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANA AlmanacCie!!!

Update from the Board

from Commissioner of Internal Affairs Jenna Vreugdenhil

Dear fellow EPU members,

This month is the month you all have waited for. I’m not talking about the ever so exciting GMA, the reuniting Welcome Back Drink, the innovative Laser Tag and not even our Hitchhiking Trip to destination unknown with study associations Esperia and TW!ST. Even though all these events are extremely exciting and open doors to opportunities of being shamelessly drunk and doing your study association honor, the real thrilling thing is that it’s my turn to write a piece in our ever so refreshing monthly newspaper. As for me being the Commissioner of Internal Affairs, I can honestly say that I could not have been any prouder of our committees. Before entering the board, I thought it would be a lot of a hassle to swing around committees and keep them all in order. However, the committees have presented themselves to be high functional in everything they do and it almost seems as if my position in the board has become irrelevant. Come to our GMA and you will witness the great work they have done. I feel like a proud mother duck seeing her ducklings swim great lengths for the first time. This year has already brought so much exhilarating activities because of these great committees and we are only halfway!

Lots of hugs and sloppy kisses,
Jenna
