Activities/Other Affiliations…Founder/Director of The Main Place “a retail store without a cash registerâ€; Advocates for Homeless Teens; Irving Community Action Network; Irving Bible Church; business owner of Ads & Images, Inc since 1981, etc., etc.
Interests…..talking to strangers; networking; encouraging women; engaging with those who are hurting; playing cards or games with family and friends; participating in great Bible studies; cooking up a storm; watching cooking and British mystery programs; and building, developing and nurturing long term relationships in my business and personal life.
Family…..Wife for 37 years and 1 day to my soul mate, Carl Johnston; widow since Aug 15, 2013; mother of 6 children in blended family (when we married the kids were 2 ½, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10) and Nana to 7 grandchildren.
Greatest honor received…. 2013 Texas State Board of Education Hero’s for Children Award in Austin (there’s a plaque on the wall with my name on it – unbelievable!)
If I could change careers, I’d…be an attorney.
I’m happiest when ….I’m talking about the needs of others and the opportunities to serve that The Main Place offers.
The last book I read was…the large print edition of one of the alphabet murder mystery series by Sue Grafton.
I wish I knew how to …get and stay organized.
The four guests at my fantasy dinner party would be…my sweet mother, my awesome husband, my merciful savior Jesus, and the best president ever, Ronald Reagan.
My ideal vacation is… exploring Europe, or, uh, cruising Alaska; or, uh, in BC with my Canadian friends; or, uh, visiting my lifelong friends.
My favorite restaurant is…wherever I am eating that serves creative farm to table food, with unobtrusive service, a pleasant ambiance and gives big discounts to senior citizens – ha! Actually – August is Dallas Restaurant Week and those participating restaurants who offer a discounted prix fixe menu are my favorites, ie, Abacus, Capital Grille, etc.
If I won the lottery, I would….plan an around the world cruise; set up an endowment to The Main Place; pay college tuition for girls who I know from The Main Place who need the opportunity to be awesome.

The history of costume jewelry is fascinating and our speaker this month, Kimberly Moore, will regale us with its history and information on the well-known designers of the early to mid-1900s.
Kimberly has been repurposing vintage costume jewelry for several years, collecting high quality clip earrings, shoe clips, and brooches and making them into beautiful, wearable jewelry for today.
Bring some of your own vintage costume jewelry to the luncheon and learn the history of your treasures and discover how they can be repurposed into something new!
Check out Kimberly’s website—www.kimberlymoorerings.com—to see some of her one-of-a-kind pieces. She will also have her handmade, repurposed vintage jewelry available for purchase at the luncheon.
