Community Supported Agriculture

Here in Madison County we are extremely lucky to have a strong network of farmers dedicated to providing us with safe and nutritious local food. At its core Community Supported Agriculture is a connection between a nearby farmer and the people who eat the food the farmer produces. Choosing a farmer can be just as, if not more important, than choosing a family doctor or mechanic. CSAs are currently selling shares and accepting members for the 2016. We hope you will explore what each of these farms has to offer and find a farmer who is just right for you!

Never Stop Learning

Date/Time: March 15, 22, 29; 3:00-4:30 pm

Food Cultures: From Local to Global: How does what you eat make you who you are? Food is something we eat, but it also defines how we see our place in the world. This course takes learners through three key topics related to food cultures: the role of food in defining identity and community, social movements and food, and the globalization of food cultures.

The Good Food Truck

Last Wednesday, a shiny new food truck stopped outside a trailer park in Milton. Eighty of the park's 250 residents came out for a bite. While this may seem unremarkable — food trucks are everywhere these days — the artisanal eats emerging from the Good Food Truck were handmade with ingredients from the Vermont Foodbank and the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. The cost? Free.  the truck's mission is as much about outreach as it is about feeding the hungry. "This is a great way to educate people on what's seasonal and local even if they aren't familiar," Moseley, the food truck manager, says.
