Hugh Hewitt to Leave Evenings
Hewitt's move to mornings in April will make Free Talk Live the longest running syndicated show in our daypart. The industry news today reported on Hugh Hewitt's planned move to mornings, starting in early April, to replace former drug czar Bill Bennett. While Salem Radio Network, Hewitt's syndicate, will likely find someone to take his 6-9pm Eastern slot, the coming change is significant for Free Talk Live. When Hewitt leaves for mornings, of all the remaining evening shows in syndication, it's Free Talk Live who has been in our daypart the longest.
Mark Levin is in second place to us, as he has been a weekday evening show since 2003 (FTL has since 2002). Plus Levin was syndicated in 2006 and we were syndicated in 2004. Jerry Doyle beat us into syndication by a few months, but wasn't really an evening show until 2012 when he took over for Savage. Further, we started in evenings in 2002, before Doyle got his weekday syndicated show in 2004. The other hosts in syndication in the evening daypart, Megan McCain and Chad Benson are brand new to syndication. If there's someone I missed in my comparison, please let me know.
So, if you are a Hewitt affiliate and want to continue with live programming in Hewitt's old slot, consider Free Talk Live. We're a mainstay in the format with over a decade in syndication - same daypart, seven-days-a-week.
