FEATURED PROGRAM
Nurse-Family Partnership work continues
This free prevention program, overseen by ChildStrive, supports first-time young mothers and their children through the child’s second birthday. A cornerstone of the Nurse-Family Partnership program is the in-home health education, which addresses the physical, mental and emotional health of the child and mother, resulting in improved health, improved school readiness, increased maternal employment and other benefits. These benefits are greatest when the mother is paired with a nurse during her pregnancy, so identification of participants early is important. The Verdant Health Commission has supported this program since 2012 and recently renewed its commitment, with funding approved through 2018 to support new mothers and their families in South Snohomish County.
