Glasgow University: Day 3
The momentum continues here in Glasgow as prayers and being answered and more people hearing about Jesus and what he's done for them.

We've seen:
  • People receive flyers, come to events, and sign up for the Uncover Bible studies starting next week
  • Responses to talks (feedback forms) indicating that some people are at the very least now seriously contemplating following Jesus
  • People acknowledging that prior objections to faith in Jesus have been dealt with
Ian Martin spoke really well on two tricky subjects yesterday lunchtime:
  • the problem from suffering
  • aren't Christian hypocrites?
Ian's gracious and winsome approach presented a clear picture of a loving God, through the mess of the world.
Yesterday's evening talk 'Uncovering Hope' entered around Jesus' statement: 'I am the resurrection and the life'. I presented the case for the historical reliability of the resurrection, which for some was the first time they'd heard it.
There are some topics that feel weightier to me when taking about them, and the Resurrection is one of these. It's of central importance to the Christian message and often a defining point in an events week.

Every evening I offer a chance for people to come to faith, through a prayer after the talk. Indications from feedback forms and responses suggested that last night's talk had strong meaning for a last a few people.

Prayer Points

  • There is indication that some are having objections answered and are perhaps now seriously contemplating making a commitment to Christ. Please pray that the seed planted take root and are further strengthened these next two days and in the follow up talks.
  • For continued relationships to develop on the back of the success of the international meals
  • For people who haven't heard about the events this week, that they would be invited and would be curious to attend
  • Today's lunchtime talks are on Doesn't Christianity ruin my fun? and Doesn't Christianity take away my freedom?
  • I am speaking on Truth this evening - in the debating chamber (fittingly?)
Thank you for your prayers and for your support. I'll be in touch again tomorrow.

Onwards and Upwards,

Jonathan
