Collaborative Engineering Forum 2016

The 1st edition of the Collaborative Engineering Forum (JIC), organized by CESAMES in partnership with Thales Research & Technology and SystemX, held in Palaiseau on January 27, 2016. Opened by Daniel Krob (CESAMES Chairman) and Eric Perrin-Pelletier (SystemX CEO), the event was punctuated by numerous talks, plenary sessions, round-table discussions and opportunities for networking. Bruno Foyer, SystemX Platforms Director, held a talk on collaborative projects and Etienne de Pommery, SystemX “Systems Engineering” Program Director, led a round-table session on “How collaborative engineering is supporting complex systems”.

Seine-Espace Booster
SystemX is one of the stakeholder of the Seine-Espace Booster jointly with Systematic Paris-Region and ASTech, and labeled by COSPACE. The initial aim of this structure is to accelerate innovative projects bringing together space and digital players.

ERTS2 2016
SystemX participated in the ERTS2 event in Toulouse from 27 to 29 January 2016. This congress is a unique International cross sector event on Embedded Software and Systems, the “place to be” for actors from universities, research centers and industries. Paul Labrogère, SystemX “Autonomous Transport” and “Internet of Trust” Programs Director, held a talk in a panel session about "Highly Automated Driving".

MT180 competition

A clear, concise and convincing presentation on a research project, in three minutes flat: that is the challenge launched by the competition "My thesis within 180 seconds" to PhD students. They will have to present their research topic to a diversified audience with support of a single slide. The Université Paris-Saclay finale of the MT180 competition will take place on April 7, 2016. CES 2016 Feedback
The CES, ie. Consumer Electronics Show, is the unmissable event of technological innovation in the field of consumer electronics. The 2016 edition of this world-renowned show held in Las Vegas from 6 to 9 January 2016. Cap Digital and Systematic organized a CES 2016 feedback event, on January 28, 2016. Olivier Ezratty (expert in innovation strategy) did an exhaustive overview of uses and technologies observed at the CES.

Ming Chau obtained his HDR

Ming Chau, research engineer within the SystemX ROM and APA projects, obtained his accreditation to direct research (HDR) in Computer Science. This accreditation will notably enable him to hold the job of PhD advisor, and to reinforce SystemX links with academics and industrials.

ROM and SIM teams gathered for a seminar

The ROM/SIM seminar occurred on January 28, 2016, at the premises of Usine IO in Paris. Over 40 researchers and PhD students involved in these projects attended this event. The main goals of this day, punctuated by several workshops and plenary sessions, were to take stock of these projects and to prepare their future with two lines of approach based on use cases and technical aspects.

ELA Project
On January 28, 2016, Jimmy Durand Wesolowski, research engineer on ELA project, spoke at a conference about “Fast Virtualized CAN” in the ERTS2 Congress.

SCE Project

The SCE project team organized its annual seminar on January 25, 2016, at the premises of “Le Laptop” in Paris. Over 25 researchers, PhD students and project partners participated in the event. Laurent Schmitt, Smart Grid Strategy Leader at GE Grid Solutions, was also present. The objective of this day, punctuated by several workshops and report back sessions, was to define the SCE roadmap for 2016.

SCE Project
The SCE project established new partnerships with two start-up companies, Reuniwatt and Novener, both specialized in renewable energy. Within the project, Reuniwatt will bring a history of energy production data and Novener will develop energy simulation models applied to the Smart Factory within the project.

FSF Project
On January 28, 2016, Albert Cohen, research scientist in the FSF project, spoke at a conference about “Hard Real Time and Mixed Time Criticality on Off-The-Shelf Embedded Multi-cores” in the ERTS2 Congress, following an article written by Elie Soubiran (FSF project manager).

MIC Project
Kwami Sossoe, PhD student on MIC project, held a talk at a worldwide conference in Transportation Research: the 95th edition of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), from 10 to 14 January 2016 in Washington DC. He spoke about his research, especially on what he called “Two-dimensional Traffic Flow Modelling and Dynamic Traffic Assignment for Large-scale Network”.

CHESS Platform

SystemX unveiled its CHESS (Cybersecurity Hardening Environment for Systems of Systems) platform to the press on January 22, 2016. The CHESS platform aims to assess the digital security of the hyperconnected systems of the future to protect them from risks such as intrusions, data theft, identity theft and cybercrime.
