Following the success of the inaugural L2L course in 2015, significant time and effort has been invested to ensure an even better and more contextualised learning experience for our new Year 9 students. Providing them with an opportunity to engage in thinking about learning and the brain, these students will be challenged to reconsider their notion of smartness. What does it mean when we say someone is smart? What determines how smart you are? Can you get smarter? If so, how?
Looking ahead to the future our students will face, our responsibility as educators lies well beyond the teaching of our individual subjects. It has also surpassed the expectation that we will turn out good citizens. Instead we are preparing our students to be whatever their world will demand of them at the time. This requires our students to be much more aware of their future capacity, rather than their current capabilities. Facilitating an understanding that we all have the capacity to learn whatever it is we need to know and then equipping our students with the skills to get there in the most effective manner, has become a key priority.
Led by a team of 6 exceptional teachers from a range of different faculties, L2L students will be given every opportunity to make their learnings relevant to a wide range of subject areas and contexts. It is however in applying these skills in their life beyond the classroom that they will experience the most growth.
Year 9 students will engage in their L2L classes 2 periods per week for the duration of the 2016 academic year. The course will be delivered through Office 365 OneNote, giving students who do have access to devices the opportunity to explore the content in a much more independent and differentiated manner.

These will be addressed through 5 very exciting units: The Ben Carson Story, Synergy, Life in Balance, True Grit and Happiness and Crime and Justice.
In addition to the Year 9 L2L course, opportunities will be made available for current Y11, 12 and 13 students to access to the course content. Students who are interested should keep a close eye on the daily bulletin.
