In this Grinner: a rare indoor double, see our Ladies & Men return to home premier league action, and upcoming EGHC Academies...
RARE INDOOR DOUBLE:  Not since the early 1980's has a club won both the Mens and Ladies Indoor Title in the same season, and in fact never has this been achieved with the competition in its current format... until Sunday January 31st !  Following a successful league programme where our Ladies finished 2nd and our Men finished top, both sides headed to Wembley for the Semi Finals and Finals.  With ten BT Sport cameras broadcasting the action live for around 6 hours in HD and over 5,000 spectators present it was to prove an exciting day.
More than 200 EGHC supporters came to Wembley in fine voice to see the Ladies defeat Bowdon Hightown 1:0 in a tense Semi Final, followed by the Men coming out 6:3 winners after a competitive Semi Final against Sevenoaks.  The finals proved to be equally exciting; both EG and Canterbury Ladies hitting posts before EG finished 3:1 ahead to secure our first Ladies National Title at this level.  The Mens final score line of 5:1, also against Canterbury does not reflect the contribution Canterbury made with 5 corners that Paddy Smith kept out during the match.  EGHC also secured individual awards with Malou Phenickx and Ross Stott being awarded players of the finals, and David Condon securing the goal of the day award.
LADIES AND MEN RETURN TO OUTDOOR ACTION AT HOME.  This Saturday February 6th, both our Ladies and Men return to Premier League action with their first competitive outdoor matches of 2016.  The Ladies play Clifton at 1:30 while the Men play Cannock at 6pm.  Do come down to support the teams and congratulate them on their Indoor successes from last weekend !
EGHC's own hockey academy returns for February's half term, with four dates from Monday February 15th to Thursday February 18th.  With all camp days being held at East Grinstead Hockey Club, and offering lunches and breakfast club as "bolt ons" in partnership with Freedom Leisure we're excited to continue to develop hockey enthusiasts from ages 6 to 17.  Remember, all club members who have purchased membership through eghockey.org.uk benefit from member pricing.  If you need help to setup a member account or with any other enquiries please email us:  academy@eghockey.co.uk
