Frankie the cat

FRANKALICIOUS
You've seen my photo a milion times. I'll let Frankie be the greeter for this newsletter. Frankie's new to the JCP domicile. We got him about a week ago, and he's still in quarrantine from the current cats (i.e. has to live in my office)

Good thing. Turns out he has an upper respiratory infection, which my vet says is common in cats from the humane society.

My crazy cat person coworker gave me something called "pill pockets" in which to hide the antibiotics. I've discovered that if I withhold food all night, he will eat his morning pill! (Cruel to be kind. It's for his own good.)

Hopefully by the July newsletter, Frankie will have successfully integrated into the household. I wonder if he will always regard my office as his "safe space" or if he'll never set foot in it again once he's allowed free passage through the house.

From Zero Hour

"You've lost a lot of blood. We're trying to get our other C754 to top you off. And Martha says the best thing to do with your shunt is to remove it altogether."

"But...." How would Ernest survive with no shunt? That would be like stitching a homo sapien's eyes, mouth and nostrils shut. He couldn't find the words to ask.

Greetings and Salutations!

Since you subscribe to my newsletter, I'm going to take a wild leap and deduce that you enjoy reading m/m. (Or possibly that you know me personally and read my newsletter because I never call.) But more likely, you enjoy m/m. (And don't take it personally; I'm phone-phobic.)

Author Mel Keegan has initiated an ambitious new project -- GLBT Bookshelf, a wiki for everything bookish and GLBT, including authors, publishers, reviewers, cover artists, and more. Do you write? Review? Publish? Read? (I'm assuming you read!) Get your booty over there and sign up for a username. Content creators are busy assembling their pages, and readers can begin adding comments once those pages are up.

My individual series and book pages aren't done, though maybe I'll have more up by the time you get this email. Right now I do have a decent author page here.

Have a peek! Maybe you'll discover a new second-favorite author to tide you over between my books (hee hee).

I'm not convinced that book trailers sell books. However, since the idea of "If I did a trailer, I'd want it to be like this..." wouldn't go away, I broke down and made one. If it doesn't show up in your email and you'd like to see it (less than a minute long, because less is definitely more) here's a link:

Crashtastic

Why did Crash leave his last job? What's the deal with him and Vic, really? And, most importantly, what sign is he? Find out all this in more in Crash in the Hot Seat, a JCP News exclusive article.

What's New with Jordan?

Miss Doreen Does Not Approve of Cowboy MenagesThe Light...it Burns My Eyes

I thought it was going to be an interview.

That's what I was told. But I showed up, and there was no complimentary mug. There were no craft services, no makeup trailer.

Just this dingy little room.

I don't know anything about cowboys. I swear to God, I don't.

And this mysterious "third man" on the cover of the Art of Dying? I say it's preposterous. But you be the judge.

Zero Hour

Zero Hour - Chapter 18
(click here for whole story starting at chapter 1)

The outdoor air had a cool snap to it, and was filled with scents, living scents, green scents, that Audrey's POD had been filtering out of its internal atmosphere. Ernest knew, even before he was fully awake, that he was at the edge of the city.

He was horizontal now; he opened his eyes carefully, expecting harsh sunlight and Styrofoam drifts. But instead, a cool canopy of branches and leaves stretched overhead.

"Are you awake now? Can you hear me?"

A woman's face filled Ernest's field of vision. Had he seen her before, or was her vat so common that there were many of her in the mix of the population? No, it wasn't her features that seemed familiar, as much as her hair, peppered with gray. Though her features were familiar, too. Ernest seemed to remember her smiling.

"Maybe you'd better hold him down," she said, not to Ernest, this time, but to someone he couldn't see. He craned his neck in the direction in which she'd spoken.

"He is awake! Ernest?"
