 Matthew 14:22-36

A snow day cleared my scheduled appointments and I have been able to crank it out!  The story/text for this week is packed with strong invitation and powerful challenge: Matthew 14:22-36 - week two of our focus on FAITH.  As you read: Write out the words spoken by disciples/Peter and the words spoken by Jesus in the order they are given in the text.  What do you notice?  Anything jump out at you or any 'Aha' or 'Hmmm...' kind of observations?  Is there an invitation and challenge?  Now look at another story Matthew told already in Matthew 8:23-27.  See any similarities?  Differences?  Is there a progression to the call of discipleship Jesus is giving to the disciples as time with them increases?

What does it mean for us to get out of the boat in response to the call of Jesus regarding faith and deeper discipleship?  Invitation and Challenge.  Its coming our way Sunday.

In Christ - Pastor Mark

The celebration service of Janet Huisjen will be held at Crestview Church on Thursday, February 18th, 4:00pm.  A celebration reception will be held at a place TBD.  May the God of Peace and the Peace of God be with the Huisjen family.  "Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:5-7.

Children's Sunday School 10:15 am
Sunday School this year has been focusing on characters of the Old Testament. Ruth and Jackie have come up with a plan to help Crestview Children learn more in-depth about these characters.  This Sunday, we will be talking about King David, and how he is part of God's great big plan.

After the Sunday sermon, please get your coffee and join Mark in the Fellowship Hall Library for a time of reflection and "unpacking" the sermon.

Crestview Memory Verses
"I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ and be found in him."   Phil 3:8b

During the first four months of 2016 our fellowship is committing Philippians 3:7-11 to memory. This week, try to memorize the second half of verse 8.

Philippians 3:7-8 What was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ and be found in him.

Prayer Requests
Please pray for the Huisjen family as they grieve the loss of their beloved Janet.
