Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the endowment in Professor Jim Unterschultz's name thus far. We continue to accept donations in his honour. Contact Department Chair Peter Boxall pboxall@ualberta.ca for information on how to contribute. Jim passed away in November after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Dr. Karen Hunter recently conducted a graduate student exit survey. Some notable findings (out of a sample size of 14 responses) include
  • The average rating for overall satisfaction with various aspects of the program (e.g., teaching, academic and research experience, supervision, professional development, etc)  were all above 5.8 on a 7 point scale
  • 50% of respondents are working in jobs that require a graduate degree, and 25% of respondents have gone on to pursue other professional credentials
  • Due to departmental and other funding,12 of our 14 graduates incurred no debt during their time in the program, 
Ken Crocker has moved into a new role with Faculty of Business as the Assistant Dean (Advancement). Marie Perron is the new Assistant Dean, Development for the Faculty of ALES. She was previously the regional director of major gifts for Southern Alberta. Dr. Getu Hailu (PhD, ’05), Catalina Solano Rivera (’09) and Lukas Matejovsky (’10) generously contributed their time & experiences for the alumni section of our new graduate program brochure.
