Una dottoressa per la corrispondenza del Dehon!
La corrispondenza del Dehon: più di 5000 documenti scritti a Dehon e da Dehon – una fonte di estrema importanza per la conoscenza di Léon Dehon. Ma anche un materiale la cui edizione, sotto il tetto di dehondocs, richiede molto impegno e competenza. Con l’accordo del Governo generale, il CSD già l’anno scorso aveva avviato contatti in vista di una collaborazione esterna per l’edizione della corrispondenza. Così, già dai primi giorni di gennaio 2016, la Dott.ssa Ilaria Macconi Heckner ha iniziato, sulla base di un contratto di collaborazione, i lavori di un progetto di edizione che, sotto la direzione del Centro Studi, è calcolato su 3 anni ca. Ilaria Macconi Heckner, di cittadinanza italiana e svizzera, ha studiato e lavorato presso l’Université de Fribourg/Svizzera, specializzata in storia della chiesa contemporanea. Per motivi familiari attualmente risiede a Nairobi/Kenya. Sarà dunque un lavoro a distanza, con soggiorni temporanei a Roma, possibile grazie ai mezzi di lavoro e di comunicazione che oggi per molte collaborazioni non richiedono la presenza fisica a Roma. Come leggere un testo - e poi del Dehon...
Confrontati con testi del passato (e un testo sempre è del passato), nel nostro caso p.e. del Dehon, si pongono delle domande: Come leggere tali testi? Come interpretarli? Approfittando della presenza del p. John van den Hengel, professore emerito di teologica sistematica, nel quadro del progetto “Borsa per gli Studi Dehoniani”, un piccolo gruppo di interessati si è trovato per una lezione di ermeneutica: p. John introduceva in questa avventura complessa che è leggere un testo: l’importanza dei molteplici contesti di un testo, ma anche del lettore, l’inevitabile dimensione innovatrice del leggere, il ruolo del linguaggio, ecc. Un suo breve riassunto (inglese) si trova qui. Per la seconda metà del 2016 è prevista una intera giornata di studi ermeneutici con p. van den Hengel, sempre presso il CSD a Roma.

Aspettando i documenti del Sant'Uffizio
Dopo l’apertura degli archivi storici del Sant’Uffizio nel 1998 alcuni dehoniani e non dehoniani già hanno potuto vedere buona parte della vasta documentazione ivi conservata e che riguarda il p. Dehon. Ultimamente il Dott. David Neuhold aveva consultato queste fonti per studiare il conflitto fra Sant’Uffizio e Dehon. Ora il CSD ha fatto la richiesta di riproduzione di ca. 500 pagine di questo dossier, che delicatamente si trova categorizzato sotto la voce “santità affettata” … Sono molteplici gli aspetti di questo conflitto che meritano studi. Già ora, però, segnaliamo un dettaglio, e cioè che le uniche costituzioni esaminate dal Sant’Uffizio nel 1882/1883 sono quelle proposte da p. Captier, e che ancora oggi nel catalogo del Sant’Uffizio esse sono elencate come manoscritti dalla mano del Dehon...

Commissione teologica continentale dehoniana - America Latina
Dal 22 al 26 gennaio si è radunata a Recife, in Brasile, la Commissione Teologica Continentale Dehoniana dell’America Latina (CTCD-AL). Presente all’incontro anche p. Artur Sanecki, Consigliere Generale e presidente della Commissione Teologica Internazionale Dehoniana. Oltre a eleggere come coordinatore il p. João Carlos Almeida, i temi trattati erano questi: La lettera programmatica del nuovo Governo generale, i lavori della CTID, la collaborazione al seminario teologico della congregazione nel 2017 in Indonesia. Per la riflessione condivisa erano di particolare importanza i contributi dei pp. Antonio Teixeira - “Misericordia, Riparazione e devozione nel p. Dehon”, Christian Gatica - “Misericordia nella Dottrina Sociale della Chiesa”, João Almeida - “Le opere corporali e spirituali della misericordia”. Il diario di p. Dehon - in portoghese
Fra i documenti ultimamente inseriti nel sito dehondocs international ci sono molti volumi in portoghese delle Notes sur l’Histoire de ma Vie, del diario di p. Dehon (titolo portoghese: Memórias). I volumi pubblicati, che seguono l’ordine della pubblicazione stampata in francese (1975-1983), coprono il periodo dalla nascita del Dehon fino al 1888. Questi documenti - un racconto e una rilettura della sua vita elaborato da Dehon stesso - sono una fonte importante e di facile accesso per la conoscenza della sua vita.

Dehon, i dehoniani e la Guerra Mondiale
Siamo nell’anno centenario della prima guerra mondiale 1914-1918. Per la Congregazione dei padri dehoniani questi anni non solo misero in pericolo la vita di singoli confratelli che combattevano da entrambi i fronti. La guerra fu una minaccia per molte opere e strutture e a volte decretò la loro fine. Ebbe tutto il potenziale per mettere a rischio l’unità della Congregazione. In occasione del centenario della prima guerra mondiale, il centro studi dehoniani pubblica un dossier composto da vari moduli in diverse lingue. Al cuore, un tesoro finora sconosciuto al pubblico: quattro quaderni piccoli in cui p. Dehon racconta la sua esperienza di guerra e la vita quotidiana durante la guerra…

Edition of Fr. Dehon's Correspondance Underway
The correspondence of Fr Dehon – more than 5000 written documents to and from him – is a source of extreme value in coming to know Fr. Dehon. It is equally material whose editorial care – provided for by “dehondocs” – demands great dedication and competence. With the approval of the general administration already last year the Dehon Study Center (CSD) began seeking candidates outside the congregation to produce an edition of Dehon’s correspondence. Thus, at the beginning of 2016, under contract, Dr. Ilaria Macconi Heckner began work to produce an edition of correspondence under the direction of the CSD which hopefully will conclude successfully in three years. Ilaria Macconi Heckner holds Italian and Swiss citizenship, studied and worked at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, and is a specialist in contemporary church history. For family reasons, she presently resides in Nairobi, Kenya. She will be doing long distance work with occasional trips to Rome. Work like this is possible given the systems of communication and labor that do not necessarily require physical presence in Rome. How to read a Text, including one of Fr. Dehon's...
Facing texts from the past (they are always from the past), in our case one of Fr. Dehon’s as an example, there are some questions to be asked. How should one read the text? How should one interpret it? Taking advantage of the presence of Fr. John van den Hengel, emeritus professor of systematic theology within the framework of the “Study Grants for Dehonian Studies,” a small group of interested people got a lecture in hermeneutics. Fr. John gave an introduction to the complex venture of reading a text: the importance of several textual contexts as well as contexts of the reader, the unavoidable innovating adventure of actually reading, the role of language, etc. A brief summary in English is found here. During the second part of the year, 2016, a daylong hermeneutical study day with Fr. van den Hengel is planned under the auspices of the CSD in Rome.

Waiting for Documents from the Holy Office
Once the historical archives of the Holy Office were opened in 1998, several Dehonians and others were able to see a large part of the vast documentation on Fr. Dehon being held there. Recently, Dr. David Neuhold had the opportunity to consult these sources to examine the conflict between the Holy Office and Fr. Dehon. Now, the CSD has requested copies of nearly 500 pages of the file that is delicately entitled “feigned holiness”… There are many aspects of the conflict that deserve study. At this present moment we are able to note this detail that the only constitutions examined by the Holy Office in 1882/1883 were the ones proposed by Fr. Captier and that even today in the catalog of the Holy Office, they are listed as manuscripts from the hand of Fr. Dehon…

Latin American Theological Commission
From January 22-26, the Latin American Continental Theological Commission (CTDAL) met a Recife, Brazil. Fr. Artur Sanecki, General Councilor and President of the Dehonian International Theological Commission (CTID) also attended. In addition to electing Fr. João Carlos Almeida as coordinator, the commission looked at the following topics: the planning letter of the new administration, the work of the CTID, the collaboration for the theological seminar of the congregation that will be held in Indonesia in 2017. Shared reflection made great use of the contributions of Fr. Antonio Teixeira (“Mercy, Reparation, and Devotion in Fr. Dehon”), Fr. Christian Gatica (“Mercy in the Social Teaching of the Church”), and Fr. João Almeida (“The corporal and spiritual works of Mercy”). Fr. Dehon's Memoires - in Portugues
Among the documents recently put on our website dehondocs international there are several volumes in Portuguese presenting the Notes sur l’Histoire de ma Vie from the diary of Fr. Dehon (Portugese title: Notas sobre a história da minha vida). The published volumes follow the order of the French publication (1975-1983) and cover the period from the birth of Fr. Dehon up to 1888. These documents – an account and a reflection on his life written by Dehon himself – are an important source easily available for a more detailed knowledge of his life.

Dehon, the Dehonians and World War I
We are in the years of the centenary of World War I (1914-1918). For the Congregation those years were not only a threat to the life of many SCJs fighting on both sides of the front. The war had the potential to jeopardize the unity of the Congregation. On the occasion of the centenary of World War I, the Centro Studi Dehoniani is publishing a dossier of several parts on the centenary in different languages. The main part is a treasure until now unknown to the general public: four small booklets in which Dehon recounts his experience of the war and of everyday life during the war. |

Yves Ledure on Sacred Heart
"In short, we can affirm - and this precisely reflects the commitment of Dehon - that the social doctrine of the Church is the anthropological side of the spirituality of the Heart of Jesus ...
