CO-OP's THINK 16 Conference to Examine Future of "PHP"
CO-OP Financial Services this week announced its eight featured speakers for THINK 16, focusing on leading social, consumer and technology trends to help credit unions re-envision what “People Helping People” means in 2016 and beyond.

“Consumers want to deal with mission-based organizations, if they can deliver on innovative technology,” said President / CEO Stan Hollen in the media release. “Credit unions have a unique advantage based on their member-service roots, but to prosper in the future they will need to provide the same level of service as banks and the new fintech companies. The credit union promise has evolved, and THINK 16 will help attendees adopt ‘People Helping People 2.0.’”
The THINK conference specializes in attracting world-class thought leaders from outside the industry who share their unique perspectives on issues confronting credit unions. This year’s conference will put particular emphasis on speaker and audience interaction – and audience collaboration with each other.

“Modern consumer expectations include helping them navigate through their lives,” said Samantha Paxson, Chief Marketing Officer for CO-OP. “Today, bettering lives requires embracing human-centered innovation in order to provide more relevant, meaningful life solutions. Solutions that help our members thrive. We hope to empower attendees in this way forward to credit union growth.”  (Click the above link or image for a list of speakers and other information about THINK 16.)

NorthCountry Donates $100K to Support Y's Youth Development
On Wednesday, the Greater Burlington YMCA announced the receipt of a generous $100,000 gift from NorthCountry FCU, which is now it its fifth year as the Y’s Youth Development Community Partner. NorthCountry has donated a total of $500,000 in recent years to help underwrite early education, after school programs, summer camps, youth swimming, and special events at the Y throughout the calendar year.
“The Y works side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive,” said Pam Mackenzie, Interim President & CEO at the Greater Burlington YMCA. “The Y has no better neighbor -- no stronger community partner -- in reaching this goal than NorthCountry Federal Credit Union and their members," adding that the Y is able to be a stronger force for good across Vermont because of the support it receives from the credit union.

This past year, NorthCountry’s financial support allowed the Y’s Camp Splash to offer free water safety lessons at Winooski’s Myers Pool; it helped struggling families enroll their children in quality Y child care programs by helping fund the Y’s scholarship fund; and ensured that a memorable summer camp experience was something available to all kids.

In addition to direct financial support of Y programs, credit union employees connect in more personal ways to support the Y. In hosting a Halloween Fun Run at Camp Abnaki, NorthCountry staff dressed in costume to raise spirits and money in support Abnaki’s Kids to Camp fund. Additionally, NorthCountry once again delivered a pile of gifts to go under the Y's Holiday Giving Tree, playing a key part in ensuring close to 300 gifts were distributed to people in need.

“The Greater Burlington Y’s mission aligns closely with our own, focusing on providing people across northern Vermont with the resources and opportunities they need to build the life they want,” said NorthCountry FCU CEO Bob Morgan. “Our staff and Board of Directors are proud to stand with the Y in support of our community’s families and children. Working together, we maximize our impact for the better,” Morgan added.

Annual Meeting Presenting Sponsor - CUNA Mutual Group
AVCU would like to recognize and thank our long term business partner and perennial convention sponsor CUNA Mutual Group for once again generously underwriting our Annual Yearbook & Directory. This year, their support is even more valuable because AVCU is transitioning from a printed book to an online WordPress website that will better showcase AVCU's history and mission, our directory of member credit unions, the important documents needed for our convention, and our business partners and sponsors who help make it all possible.

The new Online Annual Yearbook & Directory is currently being developed in partnership with Catamount Marketing, a division of PawPrint & Mail of South Burlington, which has been AVCU's yearbook printer for more than two decades. AVCU thanks CUNA Mutual Group for their support of this project which will put important information about us and our credit unions at the fingertips of thousands of Vermont consumers, legislators, and others.

As a reminder to all AVCU business partners, past Annual Meeting sponsors, and potential 2016 sponsors, the Early Bird deadline to submit your sponsorship application and receive a 10% discount on the cost of your selected sponsorship is Friday, Feb. 26. The Exhibitor / Sponsor information kit and application is available for download here.
