Distracted driving simulator

Midcoast student San Im tried his hand Feb. 3 on a Bureau of Highway Safety distracted driving simulator, which demonstrates the dangers of distracted driving (including texting).


Star party

All are invited to view the stars and planets (and enjoy pizza) at the Association of Cosmic Explorers' star party, Feb. 19 at 9 p.m. Weather depending, it'll be behind the dining hall or in Hildreth Hall room 201.


Winter Carnival

Got the winter blues? This year's Feb. 25 Winter Carnival will feature laser tag in the gym from noon-4:30 p.m., and a dance from 9 p.m. to midnight.


TEDx is coming

Liberal Studies student Justin Duchesne plans to volunteer at the April 7 TEDx event being held in the HUB. Check out the TEDx Facebook page here.


Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, the movie "Selma" will be shown at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 18 in Jewett Auditorium. Organized by instructors Herb Adams, Angel Christian and Alicia Harding.


Valentine's bake sale

Marisa Lane, Savannah Barnes and Kristina Griffin were busy selling cupcakes, cookies and other Valentine's Day goodies to benefit the Path to Graduation student success program's activities.

Writer Reza Jalali, a native of Iran, will discuss the challenges that a displaced writer faces in writing about "home." His free Feb. 25 talk at the McKernan Center includes readings from his books and short stories.
