Excessive lifestyle, noise, hype, drugs, ego, illusions of grandeur... yeah. That's not the 150 Friends Club. Formed from the remnants of half-crazed London scenesters The David Goo Variety Band, the 150 Friends Club sees the inimitable Mr Goo cultivating a more intimate, introspective sound... with debut album Monogamy taking a clever, sideways and sometimes controversial look at the nature of love and sex amidst the hurly-burly of 21st century existence.
As the man himself says; "I was having a chat with this woman, and through it all I thought, 'I'm in love with you, I love you,' to the point of distraction. I got home later that day and just started laughing, because it was about the fifth time it had happened that week. The song poured out and during writing it I thought, 'Hmm, a 1950s, Brill Building style song... okay then'. I usually don't have the guts to sing something so earnest and simple, but in the context of this f***ed-up album, it actually comes as a relief."
Somehow effortlessly combining the lo-fi and the theatrical, Monogamy pulls no punches, as Goo spins these acoustic gems into sometimes funny - and occasionally hard-hitting - playlets that frequently verge on the musical theatre.

And we're delighted to welcome Samantha Durnan for her first full solo set at The Waiting Room! A Teesside pop genius, and a fearsome multi-instrumentalist, Samantha is about to unleash a host of new material onto an unsuspecting world in 2016... and we're still enjoying immersing ourselves in an already impressive back catalogue of irresistible pop gems.
You might have seen her guesting with Serinette late last year, but this is Samantha's debut full-on gig here, and we couldn't be more excited... especially as it comes in the week of her cracking new single I Was Wrong being released.
