February 15, 2016: Don't Be Afraid
View this email in your browser

Dear <<First Name>>,

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them.  “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid." Matthew 28:8-10

One of the most often used statements in the bible is, "Don't be afraid." Fear, worry, and anxiety, grip most people's live on a regular basis. Since we live in a world of uncertainty, our emotional state is heightened much of the time. Jesus came to set us free from this malady and restore our peace.

The women in this scripture were afraid as they left the empty tomb. I wonder what was on their minds. Were they safe? Were they delusional thinking they had seen an angel? Were they afraid of what others may say? We really don't know, but it was clear they carried fear with them even in their joy. Then they meet Jesus.

Jesus knew they were afraid. He knew that the security of His presence had been taken away from them. He also knew that He had returned once and for all time. So He challenges them to lose their fear.

What are you afraid of today? Clasp hold of His feet and worship Him. As you do, you will hear Him remind you, "Do not be afraid." We no longer have anything to fear because we are secure in His arms. Enjoy His peace and rest today.
