Downtown Revitalization for Coboconk/Norland, Fenelon Falls,
Lindsay and Omemee

Merchants, property owners, residents, visitors, community organizations and local government all benefit from a healthy, vibrant downtown.  Downtown revitalization focuses on managing and improving on the economic, physical and social well-being of a community's traditional town centre by:
  •  Strengthening local businesses and encouraging investment by building and property owners
  • Creating enjoyable public streets and spaces, animated by a variety of creative and civic activities
  • Providing work and living opportunities for residents
Downtown Revitalization projects are moving forward in each of the designated communities.  Committees were formed to assist with steering the process and have completed analyzing demographic, household, and business information for their respective Trade Areas as well as identifying opportunities.  Volunteers are now contacting and visiting businesses in Lindsay to complete the last round of surveys as well.

After receiving feedback from each community at design workshops, our consultants prepared draft Streetscape and Façade Design Guidelines which were presented to each of the Committees for feedback and revision.  The revised Guidelines were shown to the community at public meetings in January prior to being presented to and approved by Council for consideration during future development.

The Guidelines can be found on our Economic Development website (www.advantagekawarthalakes.ca) by clicking the Downtown Revitalization button that is located on the lower right side of the homepage.  The documents are contained in the “Latest Updates” link.  The direct link to the Downtown Revitalization page is http://www.advantagekawarthalakes.ca/en/businessResources/Downtown-Revitalization.asp?_mid_=34687

A project extension has been granted and a work plan is currently being created to move the process forward and into the strategic planning phase.

For more information on Downtown Revitalization please visit the website and you may also contact: Vaughn Finch, Economic Development Officer, at 705-324-9411 extension 1396 or email at vfinch@city.kawarthalakes.on.ca
