2016 Time & Talent Offerings

It's not too late!
If you have not yet completed a Time and Talent sheet, please do so this week, http://goo.gl/forms/0WN6Nnyifb (printed copies are also available in the narthex).  Please prayerfully consider how the Spirit is tugging you to be part of Christ’s ministry!

Handbags of Hope

Keeping the community spirit alive…Rehoboth Baptist (4646 Hard Scrabble Rd) is collecting gently used purses to fill with items for victims of domestic violence and they invited us to help collect purses.  Please donate a gently used medium or large handbags, purse or backpack by this weekend.  A correction to the previous e-news message – we do not need to include the toiletry items.

Would You Like to Donate a Refrigerator or Vacuum Cleaner?

Living Springs is in need of a refrigerator. Do you have a refrigerator in good condition that you would like to donate? (Of course, we would graciously accept a new one as well!) There has been a wish that the next one would have a freezer on it, but not an absolute necessity. In order to fit into our space, the unit must be smaller than 40" wide.

Also, there has been a request for 1-2 additional vacuum cleaners (used, in good condition would be fine).

If you can help, please contact Ed Brennan, Jim Zieche or the church office

Lessons for Sunday, February 21

First Reading: Genesis 15:1-12, 17-18

God promises a childless and doubting Abram that he will have a son, that his descendants will be as numerous as the stars, and that the land of Canaan will be their inheritance. Abram’s trust in God is sealed with a covenant-making ceremony, a sign of God’s promise.

Psalm 27

In the day of trouble, God will give me shelter. (Ps. 27:5)

Second Reading: Philippians 3:17--4:1

Although Paul’s devotion to Christ has caused him to be persecuted, he does not regret the course he has taken. Writing from prison, he expresses confidence in a glorious future and encourages other Christians to follow in his footsteps.

Gospel: Luke 13:31-35

Neither Herod’s plotting nor Jerusalem’s resistance to maternal love will deter Jesus from his sacrificial mission.

A Little Church Humor...

A little Lenten humor
A son said to his father, "I'm giving up school work for Lent." The father said to the son, "Okay, then I will give up anything giving you an allowance." The son then replied, "Okay, never mind."

Do you have some church humor you'd like to share? We would love to share it too! Send your humor to Lisa in the office.
