As many of you know, when the sun’s out, the fun’s out – and that means a huge increase in our guests and visitors! We will have some exciting new opportunities to donate your time this spring as we prepare for the start of our busy season. Volunteering at the Gardens is a great way to learn from experts, share your talents, connect with fellow plant enthusiasts, and give back to your community. If you are interested in becoming part of the MCBG volunteer family, please call our Volunteer Coordinator, Molly Rosenthal, at 707-964-4352 ext 10, or send an email to administration_volunteer@gardenbythesea.org.

Did you know? By planting parsnips and allowing them to flower you can attract beneficial predatory wasps into your garden that pray on aphids.
What’s all the rage about fava beans? Not only do they fix nitrogen in your soil, create great compost materials, and protect your winter garden from being depleted by rain, but they are also often the first plant to bloom, keeping those bees fed early in the season.
Want to learn more? Join us for four months of hands-on, brains-on training and master the essential skills to develop a strong vegetable garden for years to come. Sign up for one of two free course orientations on Tuesday, March 15 or Tuesday, March 22 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Call The Garden Store, 964-4352 ext. 16 to RSVP for orientation of sign up for the extended workshop series.
