Church Planting and Empowerment Ministry
Christ Presbyterian Church, New Haven CT

Dear Friends and Supporters of MA,

Mission Anabaino is excited to add to our church planting and collaborating portfolio the great city of Cleveland, OH!  Our strategy for Cleveland involves two church planters targeting two strategic locations in Cleveland.

Church planter Bill Powis is at the very early stages of planting Turning Point Church.  Bill’s vision is to "create churches that unchurched Clevelanders love to attend" and will be targeting the center city region of The Flats, Downtown, Ohio City, and Tremont.

Church planter Mark Robertson is well on his way of gathering a core group and they are beginning to pray about launching their first public worship service toward planting The Heights Presbyterian Church.  Mark’s vision is to plant “a bold proclamation of the Bible and its truth, a lively service of worship, with an ever-expanding sense of community and mission to love our neighbors and love our great city,” targeting the Shaker Heights region of Cleveland. Affectionately and Enthusiastically,

Local Report: Danbury, CT

The Lord was very good to Christ the Shepherd Church when He brought us into partnership with the Portuguese-language PCA church in Danbury, Christian Community Church.  For several years now they have shared building space with us and it has been a privilege to watch them thrive.  Recently, their pastor was called by the Lord to go back to Brazil and pastor a church there.  This was a bit of a nervous time for our congregation as well as for theirs.  Would all of the great progress in unity and co-mission be reset with the coming of a new pastor?  What would be that new pastor's vision for ministry?  Would there be a short-term language barrier?

The great news is that the new pastor, Rev. Charles Oliveira, is wonderful!  His leadership, his scholarship, his Biblical approach to unity -- all of these attributes have combined to make this the best transition!  As is always the case, our God knows what He is doing and the times of consternation were really just times of wasted emotion.  We are excited about what the future holds in Danbury for both of our churches together.  It was a wonderful Installation Service on January 24th.  Big thanks to church planter Andrew Holbrook for being part of that installation.

Global Report: Cleveland, OH

A year ago Patty and I had no idea where God was taking us on this new journey in Church Planting. We had heard clearly from our Heavenly Father. We had sought Him for two years about His plan for us. He said, "Cleveland!” Perhaps He was just clearing His throat and it just sounded like “Cleveland”. But no, God has had a heart for this city and He has shared His love for its lost people with us. Now we too have that burden for Cleveland, Ohio. God loves Cleveland. Thanks to your support Ted Powers, the Midwest MNA coordinator said, "Go look at houses." We did. We found an apartment instead. We love it! We’re here. God is here. Lost people are here. Perfect.  Read more...

In 1 John 5:14-15, we are reminded that when we ask anything that is according to God's will, that God uses prayer as one of the means to accomplish his will.  We are assured in scripture that church planting is God's will (even if the specifics are left to God's continued wisdom).  Please pray for Mission Anabaino - that it will be about Christ, his glory, his life giving presence, and his harvest on earth as in heaven!  If you are interested in giving, you may give online or by check made out and mailed to Christ Presbyterian Church at 135 Whitney Ave, New Haven, CT 06510.   Please write "Mission Anabaino" in the memo line of the check.
