Liberty is currently recruiting two Advice & Information Officers to join its busy Legal Team. Advice & Information Officers are responsible for processing and responding to requests for advice from members of the public and identifying suitable queries to refer to in-house Legal Officers. They are also responsible for the recruitment and training of volunteers and frequently give talks in schools, community groups etc. on Liberty’s main campaigning objectives. The successful candidates will be legally trained, holding at the very minimum an LLB or a PGDL or equivalent qualification. Your research skills must be of a very high standard and you must have had some former experience of advice provision.

They will support them to identify issues that affect their ability to live well. Working collaboratively with individuals, the post holder will support them through decision making processes to help them decide upon the issues that they would like to address and help them to overcome any barriers to addressing these.
You must have experience of working with people who are experiencing complex social and emotional circumstances, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people living in areas of socio-economic deprivation in relation to living well.

Following the recent restructuring of our student services provision, a vacancy has arisen for the new post of Mental Health Adviser. As a member of the Student Wellbeing team (comprising counselling, disability and wellbeing services) the Adviser will play a key role in the delivery of a professional service for applicants and students experiencing or with a history of mental health difficulties. Reporting to the Campus Life Manager (Student Wellbeing), the Adviser will also liaise closely with external agencies, developing and facilitating appropriate care plans for students. S/he will liaise regularly with colleagues from across the wider Campus Life team and across GCU and will play a key role in supporting the University’s response to critical student incidents where mental health may be a contributory fact.
