Please join us for an evening of networking, meet the new Executive Committee, get first hand updates of an exciting line-up for 2016, and hear from one of our long-term members, Katie Malyon, an engaging speaker, who will speak about her perspective on work-life balance, ‘Getting The WooW Factor™’. Katie is a great example of our theme of ‘Leadership’ for 2016.

Katie Malyon has over 30 years of experience in the legal profession, principally in legal practice management, Administrative Law and Immigration Law as well as liquor licensing law.  Katie is a Member of the AAT (formerly the Migration Review Tribunal – Refugee Review Tribunal).  Previously, she was an Executive Director with Ernst & Young, specialising in corporate immigration law.  This follows successful establishment of her own multi-award winning boutique corporate immigration law firm in 2005 that was recognised in the BRW’s Fast 100 in 2010.  Katie was a finalist in the NSW Women Lawyers Award in 2011 and a finalist in the 2012 Telstra Business Women’s Award NSW in 2012.  She commenced her legal practice with Clayton Utz and was a Partner with Australian Business Lawyers.  Katie was recognised by her peers and named by the Australian Financial Review as one of the Best Lawyers – Immigration 2010 – 2014.  

Amongst other activities, she has been a Director of the Migration Institute of Australia, Vice-Chair of the Law Council of Australia’s Migration Law Committee, and Executive Committee Member of WLANSW last year, continuing as a current WLANSW Subcommittee Member. Katie is passionate about her role as a mentor in the profession and is proud to have moved the admission of 6 colleagues.  She is currently undertaking her LL.M.& M. at UNSW.

Kate Eastman SC was admitted as a solicitor in 1990 and began practice as a barrister in 1998. She was appointed Senior Counsel in 2012. Kate was ranked as a Leading Senior Counsel in Employment Law in 2014 and a Pre-eminent Senior Counsel in Employment Law for NSW in 2015 by Doyles Guide. She was co-chair of the 2014 Bar Council Equitable Briefing Working Party.
Stuart Clark AM is the President of the Law Council of Australia and has been a director since 2011. He is a partner in Clayton Utz, Sydney; his practice focuses on class actions, investigations and inquires acting for clients in Australia, the US and Europe. He has served in a range of leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner International of Clayton Utz, as a Director of the NSW Legal Aid Commission, Chair of the Large Law Firm Group (now known as Law Firms Australia) and Chair of the Australian Legal Sector Alliance Ltd (AusLSA).
