From Joanne Roussy, RBS President & Co-Founder

Dear friends,

Valentine’s Day is a special celebration for the Reading Bear. As she welcomed guests at a past event, Isabel Chen, RBS co-founder and director, noted the importance of spreading love across the city. I was struck at the time by the realization that I rarely hear the word “love” in academia. And I was inspired again, in an address last month by Dr. Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, by her emphasis love is medicine, on how love is the fundamental requirement in providing care to children and youth. In this Valentine’s Day newsletter, with the spirit of love in mind, you will hear about the power of relationships from across the city. This same spirit brought the Reading Bear to travel to Africa this past fall via our Chair of Communications, Katrina Hsu. This newsletter also features her work and work of our communications team.
