AMST News:

--  Thank you to all who joined Dr. Paisley Currah for lunch/dinner and came to hear the talk.  Be sure to join us for the last colloquium in March

--  Congratulations Stephen Horrocks on being selected to participate in the Science and Technology Studies Summer School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Robert F. and Jean E. Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies.  The interdisciplinary graduate seminar is an opportunity for students to expand their research expertise through the incorporation of social and humanistic perspectives on science and technology.

--  Congratulations to Sascha Angermann on being selected as a semi-finalist for the Point Foundation Scholarship.  Point Foundation is the nation's largest scholarship-grant organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students of merit.  We wish Sascha well as he competes for this scholarship.

-- Congratulations to Lisa Young on earning the highly prestigious dissertation award: Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Dissertation Grant.  So great to see Lisa recognized for the hard work.

--  Congratulations to Rachel Bonini for her article recently published in Louise Erdrich's, The Plague of Doves in the journal Midamerica.

--  Congratulations Pam Sari on winning the Purdue Student Service Learning Grant Program for community Service/Service Learning Projects on her project "Faith in Motherhood Archives/Exhibition Project."

In an effort to better highlight and celebrate the wonderful work by American Studies students, faculty, and alumni we are launching Last Friday, a monthly newsletter for our program.

As the name suggests, the newsletter will go out on the last Friday of each month during the academic year, an apt moment to reflect on the events of the past month and signal the activities in upcoming weeks
