Clash Erupts Over Seasonal-Worker Visa Program
Businesses across the country are being hit by delays in a federal program that allows tens of thousands of low-skilled seasonal workers into the U.S. each year, reigniting a clash over the program’s merits and whether it harms domestic workers.
Companies say the small H-2B visa program—used mostly in the landscaping, forestry, amusement, tourism and construction industries—is a key conduit for seasonal staff to do jobs they say Americans typically don’t want.

Georgia on Fire: Fighting Wildfires From the Sky
Wildfire season starts during the dry and windy months of February and typically lasts through May. Changes in yearly weather patterns can make the season earlier, later or longer.
Georgia averages over 8,000 wildfires annually with an average size of four to five acres per fire. For a fire to burn, three elements are necessary – fuel, heat and oxygen. The Georgia Forestry Commission says that careless debris burning is the leading cause of wildfires across the state.
