February 2016 EDITION

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
_______________________________________

2016 marks the 10th anniversary of affordable housing bonds in Austin. HousingWorks is committed to keeping voters informed about the housing bonds and our community's return on investment.

As a 2012 HousingWorks study showed, the $55 million 2006 bond package helped fund more than 3,400 affordable housing units, with a 10-year economic return of $856 million. To date, the City has committed approximately $26 million dollars of the $65 million bond package voters approved in 2013. We have a detailed update on how those funds have been awarded on our website. We're also taking you on a video tour of one of the first of the properties to open, Foundation Communities' Homestead Oaks.

In the coming months, we will publish an in-depth return on investment analysis of the economic impact of the 2013 bonds, including jobs created, funding leveraged and the local multiplier effect.

Of course, we could not continue the important work that we do without supporters like you! Please help us reach our fundraising goal of  $5,000 for Amplify Austin. Thank you for helping us to keep Austin affordable.
