U-M Goes SXSW
For the sixth year in a row, the University of Michigan will head to Austin, Texas for SXSW (South By Southwest) — an all-encompassing 10-day innovation festival that brings together the brightest minds in cutting-edge technologies and digital creativity.

Michigan Business Challenge
What began with 100 student teams came down to one winner at the Ross School of Business. Over the course of the four-month Michigan Business Challenge, student startup PreDxion emerged the winner and took home a total of $30,000 from the Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies‘ 33rd annual competition award ceremony.

Social Impact Challenge
U-M students recently competed to revitalize the former Tiger Stadium site to benefit Detroit youth. Partnering with the Detroit Police Athletic League, students pitched ideas to convert old Tiger Stadium into a headquarters and playing field space for local youth the nonprofit group serves through the Center for Social Impact’s annual challenge.

Women Who Launch
In honor of Women’s History Month we’d like to give a shout out to Women Who Launch, a U-M student organization and resource for innovative women interested in entrepreneurship. Join activities to empower women to engage with entrepreneurship, whether as founders, funders or team members.
Alumni Feature: Rachel Gutiérrez
Rachel Gutiérrez grew up loving to cook with her Mexican family due to the bold flavors created with real spices. When she realized that most flavored coffee today has unrecognizable ingredients she created Via Bom Dia, a venture that’s changing the coffee biz by crafting flavored organic coffees through natural processes.
Feature Venture: AOE Med
According to studies, current patient transfer practices place nurses and patients at risk of serious injury and cost care facilities millions of dollars. Arianna Carley and her team founded the medical device company, AOE Med, to solve the problems associated with patient transport.
Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship
Don’t miss this lecture series brought to you by the Society of Women Engineers and the Center for Entrepreneurship for conversations about topics in entrepreneurship, and its power in tackling challenges of gender equality.
Desai Accelerator Summer 2016 Program
The Desai Accelerator is an intensive program of funding, mentorship, and resources to help early stage ventures scale and succeed. Companies selected to participate in the program will have access to up to $50K in investment, office space in Ann Arbor, student interns, and over $500K in resources. Apply here! Applications are due Friday, March 18.
