2015: A “Glorious†Year
While slowly sipping some coffee, Jason and I sat on our couch one Saturday morning in January and reflected on words to describe our 2015 year. At first, I thought a plain and simple: “hard†would sum it up pretty well. Other words we thought of were: persevering, confusing, and challenging.
Then Jason said, “Really, if you think about it, the past year was about glory. Not our glory. But God’s.â€
We did persevere through Jason’s specialist classes and our 2nd year of marriage.
We were confused over and over again by our infertility.
We were challenged by changes at our jobs.
Yet, we look back and see that the Lord was in the midst of it all and His glory was seen in what He did. God gave us strength to persevere; He comforted us in our confusion; He gave us wisdom in the challenges.
I was reminded of these truths one day as Jason and I built this fence to hide our trash cans. After laboring for many hours, we finished the project.
Jason shook the fence and it wobbled a little. He said, “It’s good, but I don’t know if it’ll hold up in a hurricane.â€
Unlike the shakable fence, our foundation in the Lord is secure, giving us strength to withstand any storms that come our way.
