 WANT TO SAVE MONEY? Recycle!

Recycling doesn’t just help the environment; it saves YOU money.

In your bi-monthly trash bill, you pay a fee for trash pickup––among the lowest in St. Charles County––which covers the landfill tipping fees to dispose of your trash. When you recycle, fewer items go into the landfill, thus lower tipping fees are paid at the landfill. This helps to keep your trash bill low.

Another way you save when you recycle is when these recyclable items are sold to companies that reuse the materials, the money received from the sale of those products come back to YOU by keeping your trash collection rates low.

And don’t forget, recycling in St. Peters means you can purchase fewer trash bags for your trash. Extra blue bags for recycling are FREE. Just tie a bag on your trash cart when you are getting low and a new roll will be left for you.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Recycle City Open House is April 2.

CLEAN STREAMS DAY

You can make a positive impact on your community in just one morning: Volunteer to help with Clean Streams Day in St. Peters on Saturday, April 16! By removing trash from our neighborhood streams, you’re helping to protect habitat and wildlife, plus prevent creek bank erosion and possibly even flooding.

Mayor Len Pagano said, “The volunteers who participate in cleaning our streams year after year provide a very valuable community service. The cleanliness and overall quality of our waterways are an important part of our quality of life.“

Register by April 6 to be part of this community effort. Groups and individuals are welcome! Learn more and register online.

YARD WASTE PICKUP RESUMES

Curbside yard waste collection has resumed for 2016. Curbside yard waste collection was temporarily suspended in January and February since these months are typically slow for yard waste disposal needs. This practice saves fuel costs, helps the environment, and provides a time to perform annual vehicle maintenance and repair.
