Stop by our community open house Lunch & Learn that will highlight Buffalo Bayou Partnership programs and initiatives, as well as outdoor-related amenities for locals and visitors. Hotel ICON will sell boxes lunches for $9 and its signature rubber duckies!

44th Annual BBP Regatta on March 12

Don't forget to sign up for the 44th Annual BBP Regatta presented by Gillman Subaru! Online registration closes on Thursday, March 10 at 11:59 pm. Be part of this longstanding Houston tradition where over 500 participants paddle a 15-mile stretch along scenic Buffalo Bayou!

All are invited to our free finish line festivities in downtown's Sesquicentennial Park from 11 am to 2 pm. Enjoy live zydeco music, a rock climbing wall, lawn games, giveaways and more! Food and drink available for purchase.

Bike and Boat Rentals

Visitors can rent bicycles, kayaks and canoes from the visitor centers at Buffalo Bayou Park! Reservations can be made in-person or online.
  • Bicycle rentals from Bike Barn at the Wortham Insurance Visitor Center at The Water Works (105 Sabine Street). Open Friday through Sunday, 8 am to sunset.
  • Paddle craft rentals from Bayou City Adventures at the Lost Lake Visitor Center (3422 Allen Parkway). Open Tuesday through Sunday, 9 am to 3 pm.

Food Trucks at Buffalo Bayou Park

Enjoy tasty meals and sweet treats from food trucks parked at the entry court of The Water Works (105 Sabine Street). Follow @buffalobayou to see what trucks are making an appearance on the weekends at Buffalo Bayou Park!

Monthly Volunteer Day at Buffalo Bayou Park on March 19

Individuals and groups are invited to help keep Buffalo Bayou Park green and growing this spring! Bring your own gloves and BBP will provide any needed tools.

Buffalo Bayou – from Mastodons to Marathons Walking Tour on March 19

Enjoy a free, one-hour walking tour presented by BBP and Katy Prairie Conservancy, Buffalo Bayou – from Mastodons to MarathonsLed by Texas Master Naturalists, the tour will highlight how the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas created Houston, as well as the importance of prairies in rebuilding this astonishing and all but vanished ecosystem.

Second Saturday Boat Tour on March 26

Second Saturday Boat Tours are back during the months of March, April, May, September and October. These 30-minute boat rides are a great way to spend the afternoon with your family and friends. Escape from the city and enjoy the cool breeze as you glide along Buffalo Bayou’s waters. Look for graceful herons, jumping fish, and even an occasional alligator sunning on the banks.

Time: 10 am to 2 pm (Last tour departs at 1:30 pm)
Location: Boat launches from Sabine Promenade (150 Sabine Street)
Cost: $7 for adults/$5 for children (ages 4–12)
Cash only; payment taken when boarding.

Water levels and weather permitting. No reservations are taken for these tours. They are first come, first serve.

Buffalo Bend Nature Park in the East End is Now Open!

Visit this unique 10-acre park located near the Port of Houston Turning Basin that features wetland ponds, hike and bike trails, native plantings, interpretive signage and an overlook. Offering passive recreation and wildlife conservation, the site serves as a beautiful eastern trailhead along Buffalo Bayou. More information.

Texas Trails and Active Transportation Conference

BBP President Anne Olson will be speaking at the Texas Trails and Active Transportation Conference, taking place March 9-11. On March 10, Anne's discussion will highlight capital projects such as Buffalo Bayou Park, Sabine Promenade, Sesquicentennial Park, Allen’s Landing Park, hike and bike trails, public art, and programming.

Leading with Landscape II: The Houston Transformation Conference

The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) will be holding the Leading with Landscape II: The Houston Transformation conference on March 11. Following the conference, Anne Olson of BBP and Scott McCready of SWA will lead tours of Buffalo Bayou Park during What’s Out There Weekend Houston, March 12-13.

Bayou Bash

Tickets are now on sale for Bayou Bash, Bayou Buddies' biggest party of the year on Saturday, April 23! Enjoy crawfish, libations, a silent auction, live music and more at The Water Works! Learn more.
