 Matthew 5:1-16

"Blessed are the Meek for they shall inherit the earth."  That doesn't sound right - isn't meekness a sign of weakness?  Well it depends how you define meekness.  The definitions of meekness are many and range from a submissive 'cowering' quality to a 'strength under control' quality.  We are most interested in what Scripture says about meekness and particularly in what Jesus meant by it.  Moses, a Biblical leader, was referred to as being meek (Numbers 12:3) in the complimentary sense and Jesus describes himself as being meek in the inviting sense (Matthew 11:29).  So what is it about being meek that we should imitate?  And how does it lead to inheriting the earth?  Sunday is coming...

Children's Sunday School 10:15 am
Sunday School this year has been focusing on characters of the Old Testament. Ruth and Jackie have come up with a plan to help Crestview Children learn more in-depth about these characters.  This Sunday, we will be talking about Hezekiah, and how he is part of God's great big plan.

After the Sunday sermon, please get your coffee and join Mark in the Fellowship Hall Library for a time of reflection and "unpacking" the sermon.

Crestview Memory Verses
"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings becoming like him in his death". Philippians 3:10

During the first four months of 2016 our fellowship is committing Philippians 3:7-11 to memory. This week, try to memorize the first part of verse 9.

Philippians 3:7-10 What was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings becoming like him in his death.
