World Cancer Day 2016: a very impactful campaign thanks to all of you

Dear UICC Members,

We are thrilled to say that World Cancer Day 2016 has tremendously grown in reach and impact compared to previous years – with over 900 activities across 130 countries registered on the Map of Impact – thanks to the global efforts of the cancer community.

Taking place under the tagline ‘We can. I can.’ the World Cancer Day 2016 campaign inspired many of you and greatly helped raise the profile of cancer globally in a positive way. From the press and media perspective, World Cancer Day 2016 generated 17.9 billion opportunities to see, hear or read about the Day (compared to 10.7 billion in 2015). We are extremely proud to say that the digital results also far exceeded previous years: 180k unique visitors to the website, 98k resources downloaded, 355k tweets using #WorldCancerDay, 3.5 million engagements on Facebook (i.e. like, share or comment) - contributing to a grand total of 3.9 billion social media impressions.
