BDI is also placing a strategic focus on collaboration with and support of our community partners that share a focus on minority and women-owned support. As part of this initiative we will be growing our board and I look forward to that positive expansion!

The FAST Act Supports DBE Businesses
On December 4, 2015, President Obama signed into law the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act, or "FAST Act" - the first Federal law in over ten years to provide long-term funding certainty for surface transportation. The FAST Act expands access to public transportation workforce opportunities through training, educational programs and technical assistance grants. The employment training program includes specific outreach to increase employment for veterans, females, individuals with disabilities, and minorities. The bill also continues the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program that ensures women and minority-owned businesses are able to fairly compete for USDOT contracts. The bill also expands minority-serving institution preferences to all University Transportation Centers.
