The Congressional Study Group on Japan brought seven Members of Congress to Okinawa and Tokyo for an intensive program last week. During the study tour, the delegation met with local mayors of Okinawa, senior officers at Kadena Air Base, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Diet Members and students at Temple University, Japan Campus. The bipartisan group of Members of Congress deepened their understanding of the US-Japan security alliance, the current effects of Abenomics, and the challenges and opportunities of demographic change. Roundtable Roundup: 2/16 - Prospects for Economic Engagement in Iran
On the one month anniversary of "Implementation Day," The Congressional Study Groups hosted a joint roundtable to discuss the recent lifting of economic sanctions and what impacts they would have on economic engagement with Iran.
The luncheon featured Christopher Backemeyer, Sanctions Guru at the State Department, and former public servant Stu Eizenstat, now at Covington & Burling. Special thanks to Cliff Stearns, member of our Board of Directors, for moderating.
