The so far incredibly winning relationship between Ronnie Quintarelli and Nissan will continue in 2016. The Italian, who recently captured his fourth Super GT title becoming the most successful driver in the series’ history, will return for a new season behind the wheel of the #1 Nissan GT-R racecar fielded by the Nismo Official Team. The package is expected to be highly competitive once again, with Japanese ace Tsugio Matsuda and tire manufacturer Michelin remain onboard in an effort to capture an unprecedented third straight crown.
The 8-round 2016 season will be kicking-off on the next 10th of April at Okayama. The Super GT field will then move at Fuji, Autopolis and Sugo. A second Fuji outing will follow on August 7th, while the 1000 kilometer race at Suzuka will be held later the same month. Buriram, back to an autumn collocation, and Motegi will round out the year, with the championship finale set for November 13th in the Tochigi Prefecture.
Ronnie Quintarelli
“I’m incredibly delighted to continue representing Nissan and the Nismo Official Team for 2016. This team is almost a second family to me. The package will also feature the returns of Tsugio Matsuda sharing driving duties with me and Michelin as a tire supplier. Thanks to the almost completely unchanged operation, we are confident and aware that we have all what it takes to fight for the title. We’ll try to set a brand-new record, being the first team to score three consecutive titles”.
