CaBA Self-Assessment Tools now available

A suite of Self-Assessment Tools is now available to help CaBA Partnerships quickly assess how well they are performing in terms of recognised milestones and good practice from around the country

 

WFD River Basin Management Plans Released

The final WFD river basin management plans have now been released and include Catchment Pages - recognising the importance of CaBA to river basin management including the implementation of measures.
 

Raising Funds for CaBA Urban River Projects

The Downstreams Solutions CIC Team has secured funding to use an innovative web site to Raise Funds and Generate Support for CaBA Urban River Projects. It works by connecting businesses and communities with projects and asking them to contribute. For more information email: paula@downstreams.org or ant@downstreams.org
 

Benefits of CaBA for Local Government

There is an article on the benefits of the Catchment-Based Approach for local authorities in this month's First magazine published by the Local Government Association and CaBA Communications officer Sarah Buckingham has also worked with Lewisham Borough Council to publish a guidance note for planners on how to approach development near rivers.  


On the CaBA forum recently:

Sam Todd at the Environment Agency has updated a series of CaBA Funding Advice Notes; Sim Reaney of Durham University is seeking feedback on the web-based version of Scimap; Abi Mansley from Tyne Rivers Trust is seeking examples from other CaBA partnerships of Terms of Reference and Vision Statements; Martin Redding from Witham 4th IDB (and a member of the Catchment Data User Group) flagged up an Interactive Urbanisation Map from the Consumer Data Research Centre.

The third release of the CaBA GIS Data Package is now available containing 2015 WFD classifications, soils, woodland opportunitiy model, ADAS diffuse pollution models and more.  
The EA will shortly be updating the Catchment Data Explorer with the Cycle 2 data from the recently published River Basin Management Plans.  See the CaBA Website for more details.
We will be reprinting the popular CaBA Citizen Science and Volunteer Monitoring Resource Pack in time for The RT conference in May.  If you have any recommendations for equipment, apps or case studies which you'd like us to include please get in touch
The search function on the CaBA website has been upgraded - you can now filter results from different areas of the website, including the best practice pages, catchment pages and discussion forum posts.
