TUCSON BOOK FESTIVAL
I had a great time exhibiting at my first out-of-state event at the University of Arizona  (even though someone did NOT want me to leave for the weekend).
Here's the Before & After on the booth. I lucked out with a high-traffic location.
The crowd and the weather were fantastic. I had nice conversations with lots of people who were interested in my work and indie publishing in general. Special thanks to all those who signed up to receive this newsletter! Welcome!
My quote of the weekend, however, had to be when two kids (a girl about 7 and her brother who was maybe 4) came running over to the Rocketboy book on display.

"What's this?" the girl asked wide-eyed. She flipped through the paperback and showed her equally excited brother.

Their mother, who didn't even slow her walking pace, replied: "They're just books! C'mon!!!"

Really? At a book festival? Perhaps the line at the churro cart was unexpectedly short.
SHAKESPEARE'S FIRST FOLIO
While I was there at U of A, I was treated to a truly rare opportunity. Shakespeare's First Folio, the 1623 publication containing 36 plays, was on display at the university museum. Considered the definitive text on those works, the First Folio is making one stop in each state on its U.S. tour.

Although I personally doubt Shakespeare's authorship (but don't get me started on that), seeing the book up close was pretty cool.
MARQUEZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Spent a fun Saturday at this nice school in Pacific Palisades. Kids and parents were cool, engaged and talkative. Even met the school principal who made the rounds. We discussed the library/reading program at the school and the expansion construction that was going on (plans look impressive).

Oh, and I sold and signed some books, too.
COCKTAIL UPDATE
So after last month's peek into NYC's Death & Co., I know you're all thinking: "That's great, but you can't possibly go out to super-cool bars all the time. What do you do when you're staying at home?"

I'm glad you asked. I've been upping my home game thanks to Pottery Barn. First, this classy barware set . . .
. . . and then the bar cabinet that arrived just a couple of weeks ago.
COMING ON APRIL 9TH & 10TH
