“Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”  Matthew 10:7

NEPAL

We are excited for this new season of new beginnings for our friends in Nepal! As I shared in our last letter, we are so thankful for the house the Lord provided for our Lions of Judah Boys Home in Kathmandu, Nepal. Last November our Wings staff spent a couple of weeks with the first group of boys to enter the first season of rehabilitation and discipleship.

To kick off this new season our team and the local church staff took them on a team building retreat in the hillside outside the city. The boys were so excited and many couldn’t remember the last time they'd slept in a real bed! Coming from the street they would usually sleep under bridges or on street corners. During one of our times of worship together I asked the boys to share with us why they decided to follow Jesus or to share why He was real to them. One boy shared that one time the police had thrown in in jail for something he didn’t do. He cried out to Jesus, “Help me Jesus! I didn’t do anything wrong!” An hour later they released him and let him go free. Another boy told us he had been coughing blood and so he asked Jesus to heal him. Days after he stopped coughing blood and soon after that his coughing had stopped! “We know He hears our prayers.”

At our retreat we talked about new starts and how this new season of their lives in the Boys Home meant saying goodbye to the old and stepping into the new life God had for them. Many were filled with the Holy Spirit and touched by the presence of God as we prayed for them and worshipped together. The sun even shone through the windows during one of these sessions which was beautiful!

While in Kathmandu we also invited some of the other street kids to come join us at a park where we fed them a hot cooked meal, played music and games. Joined by the drama team from the church we partner with there, we spoke about the destiny God had placed inside them and how good He was at fixing our messy lives. All were very attentive and eager to receive prayer to ask for God’s help.

We also spent a week with the children at our Pokhara, Nepal partner home. While there we got to see the progress on their new building, which was exciting to see as they had just finished the construction of their first floor. Since our trip it has been painted and now they are on the final preparations to enable to children and caretakers to move into their new home! Praise God! Thank you to all of you who partnered with us toward this project!

Pictured above are children that gathered at a school located in the slums that we got to share the love of Jesus with. For many of them it was the first time they heard the Good News!

In total in Nepal we got to share the Gospel with 187 people to and saw 107 of them make salvations decisions for Jesus! Go God!!

CHINA

Early December we spent a week with 60 precious children at an orphanage right in the middle of China! Many of them had come from horrible backgrounds of family violence and poverty. We wanted them to know how they have a Heavenly Father who is good and thinks they are special.

One night we did a treasure hunt where we hid chocolate candies wrapped in little pouches in each of their bunk beds. After the countdown the kids burst into their rooms in search of the hidden treasure. They were full of delight and excitement when they found their own chocolate treasures. We talked about the amazing treasure God had put inside each of them.

Every morning we walked them to school in nearly freezing temperatures and then brought their lunches to school where we put little encouraging messages inside their lunch boxes that we had prepared.

Then, as half our team was from Mexico, we did a fun little traditional Mexican Christmas presentation which depicts the story of Christ’s birth. We talked about the most amazing gift ever of being friends with God through Jesus His son. At the close we got to witness the most precious miracle of 60 Chinese children inviting Jesus to be their closest friend and ask Him to lead them in His good plan for their lives.

The orphanage director is a Christian and was so happy that the children had this opportunity to hear about Christ and see how well they responded. For many of them it was their very first time to hear about Jesus and what He’d done. Praise God! Our staff is motivated more than ever in our Mandarin lessons!

JESUS & ME!

We are still in the process of translating our “Jesus & Me!” children’s foundational curriculum- developed specifically for children from cultural backgrounds of eastern religions. We want to make it easier for the nationals and care takers at our partner homes to be able to teach the lessons and we need your help!

It costs $10 to print 1, and we would like to make 50 copies available in each language which totals $500 that we will need for this. Please pray about helping us give children a strong foundation in Christ through this discipleship curriculum.

Thank you!

DONATE

Dear Friends,

The Kingdom of Heaven AND the King of heaven is near you and I today! (ref. Matthew 10:7) He beckons us to draw close so we can know what that actually means- what it means to experience heaven on earth. I’m sure this goes the same for you but I want to continually encounter what that’s like! Have you noticed the difference when you talk to someone who actually experienced something for themselves- rather than hearing it from someone who was more of an onlooker or bystander? It makes you hungry for a taste of that experience yourself!  That’s my prayer for Wings and how we announce His Kingdom here in Asia, through the message of our first-hand encounters with Him.

Thank you so much for what you are doing to help us bring His Kingdom near to people, young and old, all across Asia through of your continued prayers and support!

Serving together with you,

Becky

PLEASE PRAY:

  • HONG KONG: On March 6-18 On March 6-18 we will have a team from Rez School of Ministries from Loveland, Colorado with us in Hong Kong. Please pray for our team as we do outreaches in the streets, to needy village communities and in the markets. Pray for those who don't know Christ to have encounters with the Living God as we minister and share the Gospel with them. Also pray that God would strengthen and bless local believers as we minister at various services and meetings.
  • MYANMAR: On April 4-16 our staff will visit one of our partner homes in Yangon, Myanmar. Please pray for our time with the children as we teach them. We are believing for: 1. Their dreams to be awakened in their hearts. 2. For any lies of the enemy that have been rooted in their identity to be removed as we teach and spend time in the presence of God together. 3. For many people in the villages to come to saving faith in Jesus as we go on an outreach with the older children from the home.
  •  Please continue praying for our 9 partner children’s homes in Nepal, Thailand, Burma and India (233 children total supported each month!):
  1. Pray that they will know their amazing calling in Jesus. Ephesians 1:18 “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”
  2. Pray that they may be completely free from any of the enemy's past workings in their lives. John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
  3. Pray that they will rise up as God's chosen people to turn their nations upsideown for Jesus! 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
