NEPAL
We are excited for this new season of new beginnings for our friends in Nepal! As I shared in our last letter, we are so thankful for the house the Lord provided for our Lions of Judah Boys Home in Kathmandu, Nepal. Last November our Wings staff spent a couple of weeks with the first group of boys to enter the first season of rehabilitation and discipleship.
To kick off this new season our team and the local church staff took them on a team building retreat in the hillside outside the city. The boys were so excited and many couldn’t remember the last time they'd slept in a real bed! Coming from the street they would usually sleep under bridges or on street corners. During one of our times of worship together I asked the boys to share with us why they decided to follow Jesus or to share why He was real to them. One boy shared that one time the police had thrown in in jail for something he didn’t do. He cried out to Jesus, “Help me Jesus! I didn’t do anything wrong!” An hour later they released him and let him go free. Another boy told us he had been coughing blood and so he asked Jesus to heal him. Days after he stopped coughing blood and soon after that his coughing had stopped! “We know He hears our prayers.”
At our retreat we talked about new starts and how this new season of their lives in the Boys Home meant saying goodbye to the old and stepping into the new life God had for them. Many were filled with the Holy Spirit and touched by the presence of God as we prayed for them and worshipped together. The sun even shone through the windows during one of these sessions which was beautiful!
While in Kathmandu we also invited some of the other street kids to come join us at a park where we fed them a hot cooked meal, played music and games. Joined by the drama team from the church we partner with there, we spoke about the destiny God had placed inside them and how good He was at fixing our messy lives. All were very attentive and eager to receive prayer to ask for God’s help.
