So tomorrow is Mothers day and children, old and young  all over England have made cards or bought presents for their mothers. This year I hope that I have become a better coach as a result of Mothers Day. 

Why? 

My son, who is 27 lives in London and is currently in that time of his life when he is working hard and paying harder. He has joined a trendy gym in London and has been telling me each week about the amazing classes on offer, Broga, Yoga for men, a Hypoxic Chamber where you train in a low Oxygen environment ( ? sounds a bit dodgy to me!) and a spinning studio where he has told me everyone is really young, really fit and wears really short shorts. Of course I have done the dutiful thing and wondered at his fitness opprtunities and shown huge interest in the variety of classes. 

Well - it has slightly backfired because he has booked to do a class with ME- tomorrow morning as a mothers day present, then lunch afterwards! 

OH MY GOSH - I'M TERRIFIED!! 

What do I wear, will I be good enough, will I look stupid, will everyone laugh at at me, they are just some of the thoughts whizzing through my head tonight. 

OMG, OMG, OMG. 

BUT - maybe that is how people feel when they join SLJ. Will we be friendly, will we look after them, will they keep up? 

As a coach I really hope that as soon as you arrive at an SLJ session, you do feel ok. I hope that we reassure you in our pre course emails & videos and I hope that the pictures we send out don;'t terrify you like this one. 

Because ladies - this is what I'm doing on Mothers day!!

GENTLE JOGGING GROUP.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9.45 and Saturdays at 9.15 - if you are just considering getting out and back to fitness this friendly, welcoming session may be perfect for you, You will have a dedicated coach with you allowing you to gradually increase your confidence and stamina - and you'll still be allowed to walk those steep hills!  When OR if you do feel ready to join the main group - they will be right there beside you ready to encourage you along.  The run will be the normal ticket price of £4.50, £5.00 if paying cash and £6.00 for non-members.

New ' Time for You'  a 3 day health & fitness workshop - 9.30-3.00pm
25th - 27th April 2016 


This is an opportunity to spend some quality time on you and your fitness. The three day workshop will include:
  • Small groups for focused training support
  • Short runs OR power walks
  • Longer runs OR Power Walks 
  • Speed & hill training 
  • Personalised bio-mechanics sessions with feedback
  • Mid morning smoothie creation ( and drinking!)  
  • Yoga, Pilates, or Stretching.
  • Lunch each day - new tastes & flavours
  • Afternoon tea - healthy and delicious
Spaces will be limited to ensure personal attention is given to you. The cost of the three days includes smoothies, lunch & afternoon tea, video and feedback and all fitness sessions. SLJ members course cost £120, non members £150. If you are unable to commit to all three days, then why not book one day at £50. Details of activities and the full programme will be available when you have registered your interest.

The SLJ regular runs  - check the diary for days and times. 
Our regular weekly runs both day time and evening start again on 5th January and weekend runs on 9th January.No need to pre-book just come along and if you need to buy another set of SLJ tokens, you can do so here. Whether you enjoy a shorter 3 mile run, a scenic midweek run visiting the stunning footpaths outside of the park, an evening trot round the streets or one of our daytime runs, we will always welcome you back. Be sure to check the SLJ diary for specific days and times.  
SLJ Power Walks Monday, Wednesday & Saturday at 9.15am  - check the diary for days and times. 
Our weekly Power Walks are a perfect way to achieve an all over workout with less impact. We walk in all weathers and promise you will return with a healthy glow! Do come along and try a session with us! 


New Tuesday Evening 7.30 Combi -Strength and Fitness class. 

Get the best of all our fitness options in our new evening class. A combination of Hi Metabolic Workout, Abs and Core work out and Strength and Shape workout will keep you challenged and entertained but will help you get to a new level of both fitness and strength. You can either book this for 6 weeks or on a pay as you go basis.


Hi metabolic workout - Monday & Friday 9.15 - A drop in class 

This 60 minute class is designed with female fitness in mind. It is Pelvic Floor friendly NON BOUNCY class which used bodyweight exercises to fire up your heart rate, this in turn burn calories both during the class and for a period of time after that too! 
You can either book this for 6 weeks or on a pay as you go basis. 


Yoga Monday and Thursday 13.30-14.45

Book for 5 or 10 weeks.

Enjoy a wonderfully calming stretchy Yoga class with SLJ each week. Classes concentrate on stretching, especially good for runners with tight legs! 


Pilates 
 Monday  and Thursday 9.15 - 10.15 
Book for 5 or 10 weeks 

This 60 minutes class is designed to sculpt, strengthen and balance your body and focus your mind. Anyone is welcome to join the class,  regardless of age or ability. If you have fallen out of love with other workout, this class might be just what you are looking for.
