City of Vadnais Heights Development News

HEIGHTS PLAZA NORTH
Ground work has begun for the construction of the new freestanding building north of the Noodles and Company in the Heights Plaza Shopping Center Complex – this is the future home of Punch Pizza and a second tenant.  The City Council approved the placement of a city entrance monument sign at this corner as a part of this project.

NORTH STAR MINI STORAGE
The City received an application from North Star Mini Storage for the construction of a self-storage facility at 3880 Labore Road (across from Macaluso’s). They operate multiple facilities across the metro area, including in Shoreview and Oakdale.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA
The Planning Commission made its recommendation to the City Council regarding medical marijuana facilities.  They have recommended that distribution facilities - which function similarly to medical clinics – should be considered as a Special Use Permit in the Commercial Zoning Districts with very specific security requirements.  If you’d like more information or would like to provide input, please contact me directly.

COMMERICAL STREET ASSESSMENTS
The City Council will be doing a preliminary review of its commercial street assessment policy at its Wednesday March 2nd Council workshop.

VH RESIDENT SURVEY
The City is gearing up for its Resident Survey, which will complement well with the current BR&E Survey going on.  The results of both will be utilized in the upcoming Comprehensive Plan update.
