April First Fridays Artswalk
Friday, April 1st, 5 to 8 pm

Enjoy a dozen different art shows featuring work by over 20 accomplished regional artists in Pittsfield’s bustling Upstreet Cultural District during the First Fridays Artswalk and all month long!


In most venues, artists will be present from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, April 1st!

Join us for a free guided tour beginning at 5pm on April 1st at the Intermodal Center @ BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave!


The fun doesn't stop at 8! Join us for the Afterwalk Party with an acoustic-metal performance by Sifer band members Aimee Gelinas and Dan Cohen from 8-10 pm at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Avenue. Free and open to the public!

Whitney Center for the Arts

For the month of April, the Whitney Center for the Arts will present a decidedly thought commoving show indeed.  Following a strange and long on promise/short on delivery winter, “Temptations” will herald the arrival of the true warmer seasons with more than just a lick and a promise.  The group show opens on April Fools Day, 5 to 8 pm during First Fridays Artswalk. A very special After Party Concert will follow from 8 to 10 pm with an acoustic-metal performance by Sifer band members Aimee Gelinas and Dan Cohen.

The show is curated by Leo Mazzeo.  Artists showing include:  Nayana Glazier, Paul Graubard, Julian Grey, Tom McGill, Sara Farrell Okamura, Joan Mietz Rooks, Karen Schiltz, and Marney Schorr.

Downtown Pittsfield, Inc.
33 Dunham Mall, Pittsfield, MA


Downtown Pittsfield, Inc. will feature artwork created by students at the College Internship Program (CIP) as well as a special reception with booths from local autism organizations. The Autism Resource Fair & Art Show will take place at Downtown Pittsfield, Inc. from 5 to 7 pm on April 1st during First Fridays Artswalk.

Pittsfield’s Park Square, City Hall, and other businesses along North Street will be showing their support of Autism awareness with blue lights. On April 1st, 7:30 – 8:30 pm, Park Square will host a Lighting Ceremony – Park Square Goes Blue!

Shire City Sanctuary
40 Melville Street, Pittsfield, MA


For 21 years, Dan Blakeslee’s mysterious rock posters have been hanging on record store windows, telephone poles and cafe walls. Every bulletin board becomes a gallery, transporting the viewer into his wondrous, strange landscape. “DRAW THEM IN”: A Rock Poster Retrospective showcases 100 pieces spanning two decades of his work. Various posters from this exhibition are featured in Grushkin & King’s “Art Of Modern Rock” published by Chronicle Books. He is also the artist behind “Heady Topper” and “Focal Banger” beer labels for The Alchemist Brewing Company.

There will be an opening reception on April 1st at 5pm in the BINGO! Gallery, followed by a Dan Blakeslee concert at 7pm. The art will be on display from April 1st through April 30th, 2016.

For the month of April, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts will present “The TOBIN TRIFECTA - a collaboration of color, composition & sculpture”. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 8 pm on April 1st during Artswalk.

Maggie Mailer at Hotel on North

Hotel on North will present a solo show of artwork by Maggie Mailer in April.

Maggie Mailer is a painter living and working in New York State. Her work evokes layered landscapes which shift between abstract and narrative modes

Mailer’s work has been shown internationally, and can be seen in the collections of Rachel Maddow, Jimmy Buffett, and Casa Sora Chiara in Umbria, Italy.

Berkshire Paint and Sip’s April show is "Be Bold with Black & White" featuring oil and acrylic paintings by Contemporary Realism artist Michelle Iglesias. There will be an opening reception with complimentary refreshments from 5 to 8 pm on April 1st during Artswalk.

Dotties Coffee Lounge

Paige Wright announces her fundraiser exhibition; “A Mitzvah for Berkshire County Kids’ Place”, at Dottie’s Coffee Lounge. Curator Paige Wright, a 13 year old, is studying for her Bat-Mitzvah. Tikon Olam is part of the studies that gives back to the community. The art exhibition; “A Mitzvah for Berkshire County Kids’ Place” begins on April 1 and is on view through April 28. 100% of art sales will go to Berkshire County Kids’ Place.
 
The Kinderhook Group
137 North Street, Pittsfield, MA.

 
Artworks by local Pittsfield families will be on view at The Kinderhook Group as part of the Family Art Therapy Project at the Christian Center, a new community arts enrichment program designed to foster family engagement and increase access to the arts.

In collaboration with artists Marney Schorr and Sasha Sicurella, Family Expressions offers a family perspective on the arts, including symbolic portraits in acrylic, photography and clay, as well as abstract works on paper.

Reception from 5 to 8 pm on April 1st. Come support Pittsfield families during First Fridays Artswalk!

The Berkshire Museum
39 South Street, Pittsfield, MA.


The BerkshireNow gallery space features an innovative exhibition of the work of architect Stephen Dietemann, along with that of three photographers who have documented his work as an architect: Jonathan Hankin, Peter Peirce, and Paul Puiia.

Admission to the BerkshireNow Gallery will be free during First Fridays Artswalk on April 1st. The show will be on view from March 5th through May 22nd.

Bagels Too

For the month of April, The Art Gallery at Bagels Too will be showing flower paintings by two artists, Keith Emerling and Kayla Corby.

There will be an opening reception during Artswalk on Friday, April 1st. Susan Gordon, owner of Bagels Too, will present a classic wine and cheese reception with extras and, of course, bagels!

Patricia Carchedi and her Grandson Jadon Carchedi will display their artwork in the Main Lobby at Berkshire Medical Center for the month of April. They enjoy painting both folk and contemporary art. There will be an artist reception open to the public from 2pm to 4pm on Friday, April 1st.

Scott is showing his photography for the first time. All photos have been taken in Pittsfield, just off of Holmes Road, mostly at Canoe Meadows, demonstrating its remarkable natural beauty.

Marguerite Bride at the Crowne Plaza

Artist Marguerite Bride will have selected works on exhibit in the public areas of the 1st and 2nd floors of the Crowne Plaza. They will depict the seasons in favorite places in the Berkshires. There will be no reception during First Fridays Artswalk, but feel free to stop in and take a look!
