We have had gorgeous weather here. It's making me so anxious for spring to arrive! I may have even done a little gardening in my enthusiasm -- and I don't do gardening! Your students might also be feeling this early "spring fever". Now, is a good time to add brain breaks if you aren't already using them. Go Noodle is an excellent site for free brain break videos. Let your students get up and dance for a few minutes!
FREEBIE ~ State Capitals Game
My class is working on state research reports. They each have chosen a state and they have a research packet and display board to complete. We are also learning about our state together and I want them to know the states. I am not requiring them to memorize the states, but I want them to recognize a state name when they hear it. This state capital game is perfect for that. It comes with a reference sheet so students could use that sheet and play the game without having the capitals memorized. I'm making it a freebie for newsletter subscribers! It will only be free for the next 2 days. Click here to download. Enjoy!
Do your students ask a LOT of questions? You can read how I used these questions to inspire research at the Classroom Tested Resources blog.
St. Patrick's Day is a great time to get in a fun STEM activity. Have your students create a leprechaun trap. You could have them add a ladder, make it a certain height or just make their own creation. They love doing this! Here is a link to when I did this with my 1st grade class. Last week, my 3rd grade class has a fun STEM challenge to create the longest car. They were inspired by some picture books. I'll be posting more about that soon on my blog.
Don't miss the Instagram Loop Get Lucky Giveaway! The winner will receive a $75 TPT giftcard! It's really easy to enter. Plus, you'll get some great new Instagram pages to follow. I post about things that are happening in my classroom, free apps (some great ones lately!) and all sorts of teaching related goodies!
