Seeking Next Parent Rep Candidate for d.tech's Board of Directors

Design Tech High School's board specifies an opening for a parent board member to serve for a one-year term. The role of the parent representative includes (but may not be limited to) the following:

A. Acts as a liaison between d.tech Board and the parent community.

B. Attends all scheduled meetings for d.tech School Board, Town Hall Meetings, and CoPaL (Community Partnership Leaders) meetings.

C. Provides timely reports from each specific meeting back to CoPaL (Community Partnership Leaders) and/or d.tech School Board.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Deadline for candidate submission is 12 PM on Monday, March 7, 2016. If interested in running, parent should submit a short paragraph on the reason(s) why you would like to serve on the board and a brief summary of work or life experience that qualifies you to represent the interest of all parents. Submissions will be posted on BigTent and Download for parents to review. Submit your name and paragraph by 12 Noon on Monday, March 7 to d.techparentcommunity@gmail.com.

NOMINATION PROCEDURE:
Nomination closes 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

A. Nominees will be presented at the Wednesday, March 9 Town Hall Meeting.

B. Nomination/voting will occur online between March 9 through Noon of March 15. Nomination (voting) form will be provided in Download.

D. Names of the two Parent Rep candidates with the two highest votes will be submitted to the Board for selection, along with their paragraph for review. If only one nominee is submitted, that name will be put forward to the Board.

ELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Board of Directors will select the Parent Representative from the nominations put forward.

Excerpt from d.tech Board's By-laws:

a) One (1) parent of actively enrolled ninth through twelfth grade student(s) of DTHS. Each person who is elected as a director by virtue of being a parent of one or more children attending DTHS shall automatically be deemed to have resigned and removed from the Board if at any time the director no longer has a child attending DTHS. Candidates for Parent Representative will be nominated by parents of enrolled DTHS students, except that the initial Board may select an incoming parent to fill the first Parent Representative position if it so chooses. For the proceeding Boards, the Board will select the Parent Representative from the nominations put forward. In the event that the Board does not receive any nominations for a Parent Representative, in any year, on or before April 15 of such year, the Board of Directors may appoint a director to fill that seat for the year.

Image result for art deco food artworkd. Leadership is hosting this year’s formal at the Foster City Recreation Center's Lagoon Room. We’ll have lots of food, dancing, DJ, and a photo booth. Students are allowed to bring one guest each if they fill out a guest form. Guest forms will be available to from the Front Office or in the student announcements. Guest forms must be completely filled out and approved by the school admin by April 13. Students may not purchase tickets for guests until the guest form is turned in. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door.


 

Hear Ye, Hear Ye. Town Hall Meeting for Parents
March 9, 2016, 6:30-7:45pm

Meeting Time Correction: Please join us for an informative night. Topics include public funding review, spring fundraiser update, nomination of Parent Board rep, Flex Schedule, BUZZ, concurrent college credit, Oracle build update, and a Q&A session. Food samples provided by Farmingo (read below). If you’d like to submit a question for the March Town Hall, please write to us by the the morning of March 9. Every effort will be made to include your question.

Geek Girl Bay Area TechCon - POSTPONED
March 5, 2016 at Draper University, 44 E. Third Av., San Mateo

Update, 3.1.16: Due to illness, Geek Girl’s Founder and CEO cannot travel for this event; thus this event is being postponed. Register to save your space, date tbd, and hope the new date will work with your calendar.

Geek Girl Bay Area Tech Con brings together hundreds of women and men to grow and sharpen their tech skills. Workshops for beginners to advanced, guest speakers & panelists, “Sharkette Tank” for founders to pitch their ideas, giveaways, and lunch. Admission fee applicable. Limited scholarships available to d.tech on a first-come, first-serve basis. Scholarship registration code: DTECH

Geek Girl empowers women & girls (and dudes!) of all ages and all financial levels in technology, from beginner newbie to startup savant. We do this through full-day Tech Conferences, workshops, seminars, public speaking, consulting and Geek Girl for Hire.
