We are happy to use this tool to communicate news of the Council and that of churches and other service organizations. We hope to publish ENEWS every other month, so please be in touch with us about news items you would like to see included. Of course, we reserve the right to review and edit all submissions.

Faith Neighborhood Kitchen on OCEAN 104.7
Local Radio station OCEAN 104.7 will run an interview about the Faith Neighborhood Kitchen on Sunday, March 13 at 5 am, 6 am, 7 am, and 8 am. Matt Pitta speaks with Rev. Steve Hawley of Faith Assembly of God, where the Kitchen is located, and Edye Nesmith of the Cape Cod Council of Churches about this ministry that has served close to 100,000 hot nutritious meals over fours years to our food insecure neighbors in Hyannis.

Safety in Places of Worship
Federated Church of Hyannis and the Cape Cod Council of Churches are sponsoring this seminar concerning the basics of safety in places of worship. It will take place on Thursday, May 5 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the Federated Church of Hyannis at 320 Main Street. The following topics will be discussed:
· What to do if there is an active shooter?
· What to do if there is a fire?
· What to do if there is a medical emergency?
· What to do if there is a psychiatric emergency?
· What to do if there is a natural disaster?
Cape Cod Healthcare Blood Drive
There will be a blood drive at Saint John Paul II High School on Tuesday, March 8th from 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The high school is located at 120 High School Road in Hyannis. Donors must be at least 16yrs old (students need a signed permission slip) and weigh 110 lbs to be eligible to donate. Complimentary pizza during lunch and a gift cared from Dunkin Donuts when you donate! Every pint of blood donated stays on Cape Cod to serve your community and save the lives of friends, family and neighbors.

Godspell at Barnstable High School Performing Arts Center
The Barnstable High School Drama Club is presenting Godspell, by John-Michael Tebelak with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Show dates are March 18,19,25, & 26 at 7 pm and March 20 & 26 at 2pm. Performances will be held at the Barnstable High School Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main St., Hyannis. Tickets are $10 at the door or purchase online at

Hyannis Supporting Our Youth Mentor Program
The Hyannis Supporting Our Youth Mentor Program is seeking caring adults to serve as a role model and a trustworthy friend for a five year old in need. Mentors are matched with a kindergartner at Hyannis West Elementary School and follow that child through his/her four years at school. A commitment of 45 minutes to 1 hour before school, during lunch/recess time, or after school is required. Those interested may email hysoymentor@hotmail.om for more information
Lyme Disease on Cape Cod
On Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Cape Cod Covenant Church in Brewster, Bob Giguere of IGeneX, Inc will be speaking about Lyme disease and other tickborne diseases. He will also speak about diagnostic tests and their interpretation for these diseases. IGeneX is a recognized leader in Lyme and tickborne disease testing. Q&A following presentation. Bring your test results if you have questions. This will be an informative and eye opening presentation.
What Can We Do In Sandwich About Substance Abuse Prevention
On Monday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. there will be a meeting at Town Hall in Sandwich to address substance abuse disorder and its impact on the community. Gerontology Intensive Certificate Series (WHN104-67)
If you are a professional currently working with older adults or exploring gerontology as a career choice, this certificate series is for you. This series will take place Wednesday, 3/23-5/25/2016 from 5-7 p.m. at the Hyannis Center at 540 Main Street in Hyannis. The cost of the 10 sessions series is $200 or $25 per workshop. Social workers are able to earn 2.5 CECs per workshop.
The Two-State Delusion:
Israel and Palestine - A Tale of Two Narratives
On Wednesday, March 30, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Prof. Padraig O'Malley, Distinguished Professor of Peace and Reconciliation, McCormack Graduate School of Policy & Global Studies, UMass Boston, will present a lecture on conflict resolution in the Middle East. There will also be a light reception and signing of his latest book. This will take place in the Studio Theater in the Lower Level of the Tilden Arts Center at Cape Cod Community College.
All Cape and Islands and South Shore MA Handbell Ring
This will take place on April 23, 2016 at Harwich Community Center. There will be three massed ringing pieces which you can order and listen to online. The event is from 8:30-5:30. The cost will be $15 per person and directors must be members of Handbell Musicians of America. You can go to the website for more information: http://area1.handbellmusicias.org.
