Welcome to our newly reformatted version of ENEWS for the Cape Cod Council of Churches.  We are happy to use this tool to communicate news of the Council and that of churches and other service organizations. We hope to publish ENEWS every other month, so please be in touch with us about news items you would like to see included.  Of course, we reserve the right to review and edit all submissions.

You make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors in need each time you contribute to a ministry of the Council of Churches, whether by prayer, volunteer efforts, or donations of goods or financial support.  Thank you for being a part of this vibrant ministry.

About the Council

For over 50 years, the Cape Cod Council of Churches has served low-income individuals and families throughout Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.  Our Mission, "Serving God by Serving Others", directs our many programs that touch the lives of over 6,500 Cape residents every year without regard for religious affiliation.

A BABY CENTER provides critical basic baby needs to income eligible families (WIC) for infants up to age three on Cape Cod and the Islands.  Approximately 500 babies are served every month.

BRIDGE TO HOPE mentors women while incarcerated, then offers support upon release towards building new lives, centered on spiritual, mental, emotional and economic life skills.  Bayside Cottage is a transitional housing residence in Hyannis for Bridge to Hope clients who, upon release, may stay for up to six months while  securing employment and permanent housing.

COVENANT TO CARE matches a Cape & Islands congregation with a Foster Care Family in order to support that family and the children in its care.  This program works with the Cape’s MA Dept. of Children & Families District Office.

FAITH NEIGHBORHOOD KITCHEN serves hot, nutritious meals to our food insecure neighbors three evenings a week in Hyannis.  Volunteer congregations have prepared, transported and served over 600 meals a week since 2012.

HANDS OF HOPE FOOD PANTRY AND OUTREACH CENTER provides critical emergency assistance to low-income families in the mid-Cape area (Mashpee to Harwich).  Assistance includes: food, clothing, small household goods, and financial relief to prevent evictions and homelessness such as emergency aid with utility and medical bills.

HOMELESS MINISTRIES

Street Outreach Ministry:  Reaches out to chronically homeless individuals, assisting with detox, shelter, clothing and medical referrals.
Hospitality Housing:  Serves men and women living in transitional housing with on-going case management as they work to obtain their goals, such as permanent housing.  In the past 10 years, 90% of these clients have maintained stable housing and not returned to homelessness.
Homeless Ministries Volunteer Services:  Coordinates church volunteers to provide support and companionship to formerly homeless individuals.
Youth StreetReach:  Offers opportunities for area teens to interact with our neighbors who were or are homeless.  The youth serve special breakfasts while they hear firsthand how each life path may lead to unexpected circumstances and how a community of faith and love can change lives.

PROTESTANT CHAPLAINS at Cape Cod Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital offer prayers, hope and comfort to patients and their families in their time of illness and recovery.
