Hi there, you!

Peter Nachtrieb here. Belated happy 2016!

It’s been a year (or maybe the first time) since I’ve emailed you about my artistic work and I know you wanted to know what was up (and now that I've moved this to mailchimp, I can send you updates more as they happen. Yikes!).  In a nutshell, I’m still writin the plays and they’re still getting done.

Here are some bullet pointed highlights:

  • I have a World Premiere of my play in San Francisco starting March 29
  • The Totalitarians has continued life (and disturbing relevance) across the country.
  • Other miscellaneous things!
BULLET POINT ONE: A world premiere of my newest play.

A House Tour
of the Infamous Porter Family Mansion
With Tour Guide Weston Ludlow Londonderry

Directed by Jason Eagan
Starring Danny Scheie

What is it?
It's an immersive and filthy comedy about outsiders and finding one’s power in not being normal.  By immersive, I mean you will be guided through many rooms of a theatricalized version of mansion. By filthy, I mean it has more double entendres per page than any other play I've written.

What will you get to do when you come and see it?
Deeply probe the most private rooms of legendary eccentric couple Hubert and Clarissa Porter. Come face to face with “The Stick of Butter That Changed Everything.” Touch furniture.  Stroke walls.  Unlock secrets? Savor intimate, penetrating anecdotes and parables exuded by the worldly, singular and particular, Weston Ludlow Londonderry.

When: March 29- April 23
Where: Z Space, San Francisco
Tickets and More Info can be found here!

Special Money-Giving Opportunity
Might you be interested in helping us in the rehearsal process and supporting the show even deeper?  Z Space is looking for special folks to become "Friends of the Porter Family Mansion" (FoPFM).  You can support the show buy purchasing a premium ticket AND coming to some of our rehearsals to be test bodies. Here's me telling you more about it!

BULLET POINT TWO: The Totalitarians lives!

Following its prescient 2014 NNPN Rolling World Premiere, The Totalitarians has been published by Dramatists Play Service and is beginning to emerge in productions around the nation, most recently at Dallas's Kitchen Dog Theatre last November (featuring the insanely brilliant Tina Parker.)

There are at least five productions coming up this year (some not yet announced) but keep your eye out if you live in Sacramento, Gloucester MA, Austin, Ventura or Maine.

It's only just a little bit similar to the current political campaign.   You can also buy the actors edition here.

BULLET POINT THREE: OTHER UPDATEY CAREER STUFF (NOW SUB-BULLET POINTED)
  • I've been renewed for another three year term as Playwright in Residence at Z Space in San Francisco, funded by the Andrew Mellon Foundation.  Thanks Andrew!  Thanks Lisa Steindler! So thrilled to have a home for another few years.
  • I went to a theater festival in Poland and wrote about it in American Theatre Magazine.
  • I'm thrilled to be joining amazing actress Aysan Celik, Danny Scheie and director Sean Daniels at NYU Abu Dhabi this spring to workshop a new play about great moments in human achievement.  If you have a suggestion for a great moment I would love to know.
  • I recently got a haircut that involves me actually having to comb my hair.  Not 100% sold on this.
  • I'm still a New Dramatist, still working on this musical, and still 6'6"!

I hope this olympic leap year election season isn't making you too distraught and hope to see you at the Theater!

Love
Peter
